I wanted to share something on the more personal side today.
July 2nd marked the second anniversary of my son’s adoption.
He is truly my greatest joy and biggest blessing. To celebrate this milestone, I took two days off to step away from the screen and dedicate uninterrupted, quality time to him.
I’m incredibly thankful for my amazing team at Bradford Turner Insurance Group, a division of Biltmore Insurance Services, who stepped up and took seamless care of my clients in my absence. Having a supportive work family makes milestones like this possible! ❤️
I will return to the office Tuesday, but I felt it was inportant to take a short break and share some statistics.
Right here in Georgia, the need for stable, permanent homes is overwhelming.
- There are currently over 11,000 children in Georgia’s foster care system.
- When children enter care, the state deeply prioritizes kinship care and familial placements. In fact, roughly 20% to 23% of children in Georgia's foster care system are placed with relatives
- The road to permanency takes time—over 33% of youth in GA foster care wait more than two years for a permanent outcome- whether through reunification or adoption.
- Safe reunification with biological family is always the first priority. Nationwide and locally, roughly half of all children (around 47% to 50%) who exit foster care are safely reunited with their birth parents.
- For children who cannot safely return home in Georgia, over 1,200 children are successfully adopted out of the foster care system each year.
Adoption is a beautiful journey, but it isn't an overnight transition. It requires an immense investment of time, patience, and love. Whether an adoption is familial, private, or through foster care, every child deserves a safe space to grow and a family to call their own. To anyone navigating the adoption process or considering opening their heart to a child: the days can be long, but the reward of watching a child thrive in unconditional love is unmatched. God had a plan for our family, and I’m thankful for it each and every day.
