I get asked a lot- “why baking?” Especially since I do both pretty well, and even went to school long enough to earn both degrees. I didn’t always know how to answer that question. I enjoy both cooking and baking, truly. Tonight as I was sharing these with our new H2B friends at work and one of them asked, the answer became pretty simple as I was trying to explain to someone who’s first language isn’t English. My grandma. As long as I can remember, my grandma baked. With me, with my mom, with my aunts, with her own sisters, with her mom… every Christmas she would ship boxes full of homemade cookies to us wherever we lived, and it was the best present ever! I tease and tell everyone that I have the best job in the world- because I’ve never seen someone angry eating cake. 😂 it’s true though. I get to be part of some of the biggest and best celebrations, some of the saddest events, and the day to day in between. My favorite thing that I will ever do though, is bake cookies with my grandma- and I am SO THANKFUL that she is still with me! Tomorrow if you join us for Sunday supper at CBC, you’ll have a little part of her and my family history with my favorite cookie in the world for dessert. We call them Lady Locks. 🤍

So many laughs with my partner in crime yesterday. 15 hours from when I left my house for work until I got back home. Then I still needed to decorate 200+ cupcakes for the SHS band banquet today 😂🎶💙🤍 🏴‍☠️the days are long but the years are short! Not quite sure how I’ve reached my 5th season at CBC but I’m so happy to be here still!
