Day Eight
S – Save it. If you paid bills with it, gave your local church the tenth, gave it to organizations and programs that needed your financial assistance, and didn’t squander it. Take the rest and save it. Maybe pay taxes later (Lol), put it in your emergency fund, or for that much-needed get-a-way. Whatever you do, enjoy it.

Day Seven
U – Understand it. You need to know why you received the Stimulus Check. It will help you understand what to do with it. Here’s the government’s reason: It delivers immediate and direct relief to families and workers impacted by the COVID-19 crisis through no fault of their own. And will build a bridge to an equitable economic recovery. (Fact Sheet, American Rescue Plan, U.S. Treasury) but the spiritual reason is much more impactful. Understand that God is your source in this challenging time in which we live, God loves you, and he wants to bless you.

Day Six
L – Lose it. Do you remember the parable in the Bible about the Talents? Remember the servant that hid his talent? What did God do? The master took it away from him, and the servant had none. Losing could be that you squandered the money. When God speaks, you listen and obey. The two servants went right off and received an increase. They didn’t think about it, and they took the risk. Take the risk, trust God with your payment, or you might lose it.

Day Five
U – Use it. Now I know you may think it is crazy that people will not use their Stimulus Payment. But I know you are out there. Some people will want to hold tightly onto it and not use it at all. Just remember, you got it for a reason. God gave it to you for a reason. It could be your seed, or it may be your harvest. No matter, you have to let go of it. If it is your seed, you plant it where you know it will grow. If it is our harvest, use it for the items you need. Remember, a closed fist receives nothing.

Day Four
M – Multiply it. The best way to multiply it is to praise the Lord for it, ask him for wisdom, and increase or multiply what you have in your hand. I call this getting “expensive things cheaply.” For example, I needed a laptop; I only had a certain amount to spend. To make a long story short, I found a brand new open box laptop for $399, originally priced at $700. Placing your money before the Lord gives you the freedom of knowing it’s the Lord who takes care of your family and you.

Day Three
I – Invest it. Investing your payment in stocks and bonds may be an excellent way to increase wealth. But have you considered investing the payment into people? Could you invest in programs that help young single mothers or homeless men or women who may need a little financial assistance or even families at the end of their rope?

Day Two
T – Tithe it. Giving a tenth of your payment to your local church or the congregation that you belong. It is a way of honoring the Lord with your increase and saying thank you for all the Lord has done for you. I would also add an offering above your tithe.

There are so many ways the United States (U.S.) is helping families get through the pandemic. The new 2021 American Rescue Plan gives some families, not all, an Economic Impact Payment (EIP). This payment will help families and stimulate our economy. But, what is your plan for it? How can your EIP specifically help your family? I am using the letters from the word “STIMULUS.”

S – Spend it. Yes, this what the government wants you to do. But, you must have a budget before spending the payment. Every penny should be in your budget. And I would even say make a separate budget for this money. I would pay down debt if you can afford to, pay off high-interest credit card debt or your student loan, especially since some student loans are at “0” interest until September.
