After 30 years of dedicated service to the Franklin County Municipal Court, we celebrate the well-earned retirement of Judge James Green.

A longtime Gahanna resident, Judge Green is widely respected for his commitment to our city and the Central Ohio community, and his impact will be felt for years to come.

This afternoon, shortly after 2 p.m., the Columbus Division of Police, accompanied by Gahanna Deputy Chief Ethan Moffitt, will es**rt Judge Green from downtown Columbus through Gahanna, along Granville Street, as he leaves the bench for the last time. If you see them pass by, please join in waving hello and thanking Judge Green for his decades of service.

Congratulations, Judge Green, and thank you for your leadership and dedication.

Ledell Lee never stopped saying it — “I am an innocent man.”

Conv!cted for a 1993 cr!me and exec*ted in Arkansas in 2017, Lee went to his death maintaining that he did not do it. His lawyers pleaded for DNA testing on the evidence before the exec*tion, but the request was denied — the state was rushing to carry out exec*tions before their lethal injection dr*gs expired.

Four years later, that testing was finally done. The results changed everything.

The DNA found on the blo*dy wooden club, the supposed murd*r weapon, wasn’t his. It belonged to an unknown man — the same unidentified DNA was also found on a blo*dy shirt wrapped around the we*pon. Even the hair samples from the scene didn’t match Lee.

His lawyers and the Innocence Project now hold the evidence that could have spared his life, but it arrived too late. The unknown DNA profile sits in a national database, waiting for a match that may never come.

Some officials still defend the conv!ction, citing eyewitnesses. But there was no physical evidence linking Lee to the cr!me — and the evidence that was tested proved it wasn’t his.

We can’t bring him back. But we can confront the question that remains: when a human life hangs in the balance, isn’t the truth worth waiting for?

Avonte Teasley (32) was just trying to pick up his child when he got into a heated argument with his baby mama and her new girlfriend in Sacramento, California. The door cam footage shows the situation escalating until the new girlfriend allegedly pulls out her weapon first.
Forced to defend himself, his wife, and his child, Avonte drew his own gun, and a shootout erupted. He fatally shot the woman, and now he's the one being charged with first-degree murder. His family is arguing that this was a clear case of self-defense and they've launched a GoFundMe campaign “Justice For Avonte,” to fight the charges... saying he was only trying to protect himself, his wife, and the child in his custody. When someone pulls a gun on you, do you have the right to shoot back? The law says one thing, but the street says another. This is a heavy one. 🙏💔

Watch out for new scam
The Franklin County Sheriff’s Office wants to warn about a new scam targeting family and friends of incarcerated individuals.

Scammers have been calling people, claiming to be sergeants, lieutenants, and captains with the Sheriff’s Office. The scammers then tell people to make payments for ankle monitors or bonds using cash at a gas station, like Circle K or Speedway. Several people have recently come to the James A Karnes Corrections Center to report this.

Remember, we will never call you and ask for money to get your loved one released. If you are ever unsure about any phone call you receive, you can verify by calling the Sheriff’s Office at (614) 525-3333.

Make sure to share and help your friends & family stay aware about scams.
