An ICE agent who shot an unarmed Venezuelan immigrant through the front door of a Minneapolis home — and then allegedly fabricated a story to justify it — has been arrested in Texas.

Christian Castro, 52, was taken into custody Friday by Texas Rangers and agents from the Department of Homeland Security's Office of the Inspector General. Minnesota investigators had tracked him down in Texas after charging him earlier this month in Hennepin County District Court.

Castro faces four counts of second-degree assault with a deadly weapon and one count of falsely reporting a crime. The shooting happened on January 14 during Operation Metro Surge — described by the Trump administration as the largest immigration enforcement operation in the Minneapolis–St. Paul area to date. Castro fired his weapon through the front door of a home while standing alone in the front yard, striking Julio Sosa-Celis in the leg. Investigators say Castro was not under physical threat when he pulled the trigger.

Here's where it gets damning: Castro claimed the men inside assaulted him with a broom and a shovel. But video evidence directly contradicted that account, and a medical examination found no significant injuries to Castro's body — just a single abrasion on his left hand. Investigators concluded he was standing and in no danger when he fired.

Castro is the second ICE agent to face charges out of Operation Metro Surge. Hennepin County Attorney Mary Moriarty said it plainly: "His federal badge does not make him immune from state charges for his criminal conduct in Minnesota." The case is already reigniting a fierce national debate about accountability, use of force, and whether immigration enforcement has been operating without adequate oversight.

A North Carolina woman was arrested after allegedly shooting two attorneys outside a courthouse following a civil hearing involving the Rolesville Police Department.

Gwendolyn White, 57, was charged with attempted first-degree murder after the shooting outside the Wake County courthouse in Raleigh.

Police said White had attended a hearing Friday morning connected to a lawsuit she filed against the police department. According to investigators, she became disruptive in court, then went to her car, retrieved a gun, and opened fire on two attorneys representing the department as they exited the courthouse.

The victims were identified as Mary Harris and Jeffery Whitley of Fox Rothschild; they were both hospitalized. Harris reportedly underwent surgery while Whitley was listed in stable condition.

Authorities said the hearing involved White’s effort to revive a lawsuit tied to a 2021 dispute with neighbors and a request for police body-camera footage. The investigation remains ongoing.

Ledell Lee never stopped saying it — “I am an innocent man.”

Conv!cted for a 1993 cr!me and exec*ted in Arkansas in 2017, Lee went to his death maintaining that he did not do it. His lawyers pleaded for DNA testing on the evidence before the exec*tion, but the request was denied — the state was rushing to carry out exec*tions before their lethal injection dr*gs expired.

Four years later, that testing was finally done. The results changed everything.

The DNA found on the blo*dy wooden club, the supposed murd*r weapon, wasn’t his. It belonged to an unknown man — the same unidentified DNA was also found on a blo*dy shirt wrapped around the we*pon. Even the hair samples from the scene didn’t match Lee.

His lawyers and the Innocence Project now hold the evidence that could have spared his life, but it arrived too late. The unknown DNA profile sits in a national database, waiting for a match that may never come.

Some officials still defend the conv!ction, citing eyewitnesses. But there was no physical evidence linking Lee to the cr!me — and the evidence that was tested proved it wasn’t his.

We can’t bring him back. But we can confront the question that remains: when a human life hangs in the balance, isn’t the truth worth waiting for?
