🥰Bimini, Bahamas🥰
Bimini has a population of approximately 3000 people. They are the closest island to the United States. The island of Bimini is only 7 miles long. Super Small right? Most of the children there come to the United States to go to school because they have alot of family over here anyway with the US being so close. The high school is the size of a convenience store. All of the churches are on one row. They have 2 community clinics, but if something serious happened they would have to be airlifted to Nassau and the United States.
We went into the actual neighborhood instead of relaxing on the beach and I must say that it is a cultural shock. If you have ever watched Shottas(shot in Jamaica), then that is a vivid picture of what I saw today... Small shops and vendors everywhere... People hanging out. Every man was about a hustle. I made the joke to the tour guide and said, " I bet yall get tired of us. Yall never get to just enjoy your own home and neighborhoods because tourists are always here." He said, "Oh no! We love to see yall. This is how we take care of our families. Tourists and fishing. There are really no jobs here. Alot of people work at the Marriot here but I make more like this. Everything is high because it is imported. Milk is almost $10 a gallon." I was shocked.
I enjoyed myself... We eventually walked out on Radio Beach and walked out to the water... The water is so pretty and the rocks and shells are absolutely pretty. There is music playing everywhere. Food cooking. Drinks galore. My type of party if I had more time. I enjoyed the time that I had though and I learned alot.
One more thing... This is funny...
One of the street hustlers asked me and my friend girl if we wanted to buy a golf cart. We said No Thank You. Can yall believe that he literally said, "I guess yall trying to lose weight." I was shocked. My friend let him have it and he kept talking. Like how you full of funny but want our money?? The nerves!
