10.13.2026 A day in the life of a health insurance broker leading up to open enrollment:
First hour = emails from the night and early morning: checking networks for a client very fearful of changes in the network providers mid-treatment. Reassured her that there are options and encouraged her to reach out to her doctor with information that I researched; Emailed the masses with questions about open enrollment; Shared with my first phone appointment that they are better off staying on their group plans and in a very good place; Had a conversation with a business owner about outside of the box options to make offering benefits to employees affordable; Following up with a potential new client who has had a really terrible month and trying my best to be a blessing to him as much as I can with what I have. Now its 10 am. Happy Tuesday all!

Medicare Open Enrollment isn't a good candidate for the last-minute approach.

The window is October 15 through December 7. Within it, you can review your Medicare Advantage plan, your prescription drug coverage, and the other options available to you.

And reviewing doesn't mean switching. Sometimes you look, confirm everything still works, and go back to your afternoon.

What really matters is whether anything changed this year. A new prescription, a new specialist, a different pharmacy. Those are the things that quietly make a plan fit worse than it did last January.
