Welcome Home!!! National Vietnam Veterans Day
Every March 29, we honor and recognize the 3 million servicemembers who were deployed and served in the Vietnam War. 🇺🇸 March 29 was chosen to remember the last U.S. combat troops who departed from Vietnam on March 29, 1973. On and around the same day, Hanoi released the last of their acknowledged prisoners of war. There are more than 58,000 deaths documented and inscribed on the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Washington, D.C. ❤️
To all Vietnam veterans, your service mattered, and it will never be forgotten. We are forever thankful for your courage and the sacrifices you made for our freedom. Today and every day, we honor you.

We believe that everything we do is about forming relationships! In that spirit, I would like to introduce us.
My wife Pam and I (Rich Lewis) started Medicare Mentors 3 years ago. Below is the story behind Medicare Mentors and why we are so passionate about what we are privileged to do!
I am sure we have a few Air Force Veterans reading this. I started out at the Air Force Academy (AFA) in Colorado Springs, CO. Sadly, after 3 days I was kicked out… for being a cry baby… The rest of the story… I was born at the AFA and grew up in Colorado Springs. My dad spent 34 years in the Army and retired in Colorado Springs. After college, I followed in my dad’s path and joined the Army. I retired after 22 years of service in back in my hometown and found myself taking care of my parents.
One day, in 2012, my brother and I were in the ER with my dad. A nurse asked my dad for his insurance information. He pulled out his rolodex, otherwise known as a wallet, and gave her his military ID, his Medicare card, and his Medicare Supplement card. The nurse looked everything over and handed them back. She asked my dad why he had a Medicare Supplement plan. My dad told her it was to cover things that Medicare and Tricare didn't pay for. She explained that between Medicare and Tricare (Tricare For Life) all was covered, the Medicare Supplement was not paying for anything. I saw the look on my dad's face go from pain to anger. I asked my dad what was wrong. He told me that he had been paying over $300 a month for a Medicare Supplement for he and my mom for the past 10 years (over $36,000) and it was not paying for a thing! My brother and I were shocked and saddened. Understand, my dad spent over 30 years in the military. He was involved in the stand up of NORAD and was part of the development of the Patriot missile system. He was a brilliant man that researched everything! Even so, Medicare was and still is VERY confusing. That confusion cost my dad over $36,000!
When I started dating my beautiful wife Pam a few years later, she told me that she has worked in the insurance industry for over 20 years and has been helping people understand the ins and outs of Medicare since 2008. I immediately flashed back to my dad and felt another calling to serve. I would serve the Medicare eligible community with Pam and do all that I could to ensure no one experiences what my mom and dad did! I became a licensed Medicare insurance broker and we went to work!
I was told that the Medicare eligible Veteran community was under served. We had no idea how underserved the entire Medicare eligible community was. There is a a desperate need and desire for assistance and, more important, relationship! Pam and I were quickly overwhelmed by the need. We realized we needed a team. A unique team that understood the Veteran experience, had a heart for selfless service and commitment. We have formed a team that is made up of military retirees, Veterans, military spouses, and civilians all trained and equipped to serve and advocate for the Medicare eligible community. We are all licensed to educate, assist with paperwork and applications, and, most important, to advocate when things are confusing or wrong. There is no cost for all the services we provide.
We believe that community involvement, volunteering and giving back is the key way for us to be able to carry out our mission and purpose. We sit on several boards, volunteer with various non profits, and are always looking for other places where we can make an impact.
