Credit is broken down into two parts -- your credit score and your credit history. Your credit SCORE is the actual number which is given when the credit is checked by the lender. Your credit HISTORY is your history of how well you have paid your debt which reports to your credit report (auto loans, student loans, mortgage loans and credit cards). It also shows bankruptcy filings and judgements.

We call this "Back To The Basics" -- It takes 3 things to get a mortgage loan -- 1) Credit 2) Income 3) Money. Credit determines if you can even get a loan. Income determines how MUCH of a loan you can get and money is needed for a down payment, appraisal, etc.

Do not make it any more complicated than that. Stay focused on those 3 things and your path to homeownership will be clear as day.
