This is so important. As an agent with numerous carriers, I see this way too often. I remind clients every time I speak to them or see them that these Call Centers are not there to help them unfortunately. Use local agents and get recommendations from your friends if you don’t have one.

After being in this business for over 20 years, I find most local or Independent Agents are most reputable.

If you do happen to find yourself on the other end of a solicitation or phone call, do not give out your Social Security number or your Medicare number. If there’s a new plan that you heard about, call your local agent and discuss it with them. They will be your agent for life if you allow them to be. Otherwise, when you enroll over the phone with these call Centers, you lose the person that you have been dependent on for years to help you with your choices and the personalized service you received from them.
