The chocolate chip cookies from The Bake Lab have become such an iconic staple of the The Great New York State Fair so I went behind the scenes to learn all about them.

Always served warm. Real vanilla. Applesauce instead of eggs means they are VEGAN! And by the end of the fair they’ll have baked about HALF A MILLION cookies!

Miss them at the fair? No worries, The Sweet Praxis is open year-round in downtown Syracuse.

It’s time for some Latin flavors at the The Great New York State Fair!

I’ve been looking forward to getting another arepa from Ruby's Colombian Cuisine - and it was everything I wanted it to be. Fresh, delicious, flavorful… this time I had a mixture of beef, chicken, and chicharron 😋

And then there’s Odalys Negron - great people and great food. In addition to their new location in the eatery, their food truck is also located in the Latino Village and they’ve got enchiladas, tostones, and pinchos - grilled chicken skewers with a guava sauce. A couple of my friends said that was the best thing they had eaten at the fair!

I’m looking forward to next year, when both the Asian Village and Latino Village will be the full duration of the fair.

Hang out without me at Willow Rock on Thursdays!

Pitch league returns this fall on Thursdays in Cicero from September 17 through November 19.

$10 per person, per week, paid up front ($100 per person / $200 per team). The top half of the teams based on cumulative scores will be paid out on week 10.

Half of the league fees go toward winnings; the other half goes toward league perks and organization.
As a perk, all pitch players will get 10% off their drink tabs on pitch nights from 6pm til 9pm. (Not valid on food or beer to-go.) On week 10 all players will get one free drink token and pizza.

Games begin at 6:30 pm. Each week you and your partner will be matched with a different team to play 6 games to 11 points.

When you spend every day at The Great New York State Fair, you try A LOT of food. Truly. And after 7 days, I *think* I’ve found my favorite thing: the Cinna Mozza from GoldenKdog.

My friends and I LOVED the honey nut cheerio mozz stick last year, but then they announced the cinnamon one for the N.C. State Fair and I was JEALOUS. Lucky for me, they brought it up to New York and it’s everything I dreamed it would be. A little salty, a little sweet, a lot delicious.

They take a giant mozzarella stick, batter it, deep fry it, and then coat it in cinnamon sugar and crumbled pieces of Cinnamon Toast Crunch. It’s everything you want in a fair food - unique & flavorful without being over the top.

Golden KDog is located at the West End - behind the Expo Center at the end of Restaurant Row, right before the Latino Village.
