I’m calling in Autumn. It’s about 105 today. I went to Hi by lobby and bought fall flowers for my outdoor urns then decorated the house for fall.

The day I was born in Glendale CA it was very hot & humid. My father bought mom a pretty yellow sweater rather than flowers to celebrate my birth. She wasn’t happy.

However, three days later the weather snapped and he took her to a movie. She was happy to have her new yellow sweater.

Ever since I was little kid, something deep inside of me tells me when fall is coming. (not here yet). I can also smell rain coming. Just two of my many talents. LOL.

It's Medicare Open Enrollment. Don't let anyone try to bully you into something you don't fully understand. If you have an HMO (Advantage Plan) it usually covers your medications, too. If you choose a Medicare Supplement plan (can see ANY doctor who takes Medicare), you also need a "D" plan for prescriptions even if taking none.

If you do not choose a "D" plan, you will pay a lifetime penalty. If you do not sign up for Medicare when you turn 65 (unless under a union or employer plan), you will pay a lifetime penalty.

If you're in AZ, CA, NV or ID and want help - give me a shout. (800) 546-4126. Chris

I'm still busily working on the final bookkeeping for my accountant to do my taxes. Is anyone else holding their breath or grouchier than usual right now?

I wrote a great blog today about rising taxes and why it HAS TO HAPPEN in our lifetime. I remember the first house I bought in 1984. I paid 15.75% interest on the loan and that was a good deal back then. Mortgage rates were about 17% on average.

If you do not have a solution to rising taxes and very little cost-of-living on your Social Security income, we need to talk. I might have one excellent idea to share with you.

Traditional financial planning simply doesn’t address how the world has changed. Leaving all of your money in the stock market or even deferring to bonds for safety is no longer the "magic bullet" for success. History proves that Sequence-of-Returns is -more now than ever before - a real-life tangib...

There is a very weird phenomenon this time of year. A new U.S. analysis of mortality rates during different times of year found that people are more likely to die during the holidays — notably on Christmas and New Year’s Day — and researchers cannot explain the yearly spike.

Why would I even bring this up? Because how you weather losing a paycheck is critical to your financial future. One of my mom's long-time friends passed away last week and her husband is now dealing with downsizing, loss of income on top of his grief. It's just a fact of life. We have an aging population explosion in the U.S. It is affecting A LOT OF PEOPLE. see my blog for more info: www.morewealth4me.com

HAVING A BUDGET IS A CRITICAL COMPONENT TO A SUCCESSFUL LIFESTYLE AND RETIREMENT

I'm not here to make a social comment, I'm here to encourage you to get a handle on what you spend a month and then figure out what it will cost you in retirement. And don't be fooled by the government CPI numbers that tell us there is no inflation. Bah Humbug! Have you shopped for milk or bread or meat lately? How much does it cost to fill up your tank these days?

Let's look back 20 years to 1996 to put this into perspective: Average Cost of new house $118,200.00 Average Income per year $36,300.00 Average Monthly Rent $554.00 Cost of a gallon of Gas $1.22 US Postage Stamp 32 cents Average cost of new car $16,300.00

If your budget is $5000 per month today and you plan to retire in just 5 more years, you will need to add at least $500 per month to that budget. If it's 10 years away, add add another $1000 per month to the projection.

TWO HUGE CONSIDERATIONS: Cost of Health Care and Government Risk (rising tax rates) during a 30+ year retirement cycle. Another is Market Risk. What happens when you begin to draw down on savings and the market goes south?
