Dreams & Beyond NFP

Dreams & Beyond NFP In an era where time is scarce, women often neglect themselves by not stopping to take the time to invest in a planned lifestyle.

Dreams and Beyond is dedicated to educating, inspiring and motivating girls and young women to identify and fulfill their dreams by providing programs that encourage personal growth through self-investment. This very common problem generally develops in the early adolescent years and carries over into adulthood. Dreams and Beyond recognizes this deficiency and takes an active role in promoting sel

f-awareness and self-development in emerging girls and young women. Personal investment is the key to preparing for and managing complex teenage years and understanding the role and responsibilities of womanhood. In recognizing that strength grows and live through the empowerment of spirit and mind, we engage girls and women by motivating them to take charge and play an active role in analyzing, planning and navigating their lives. This goal is achieved by exploring options, confronting issues and developing strategies for lifelong success.

The Stars walk among us!

I was truly honored to present Friday, August 15, 2014 at the Pure Art, Sis-Stars Back to School Retreat for young women of color. I gave a presentation on the power of journaling to 9 amazing girls ages 13 - 18 who opened their hearts and minds to blossoming into beautiful flowers! This powerful program nurtures girls and assist them building confidence, self-esteem, etiquette through art and mentoring. This is the kind of work that is my passion and always warms my heart. I saw these girls grow before my eyes and I'm happy to be a part of their development. If you have not visited Gallery Guichard, you really should stop by. The art is absolutely enchanting! Thank you Patrese McLain, Founder and Exec. Dir. of Pure Art for the invite and great big hugs to Abraxas Thomas, Bridget Vaughn and Tondalaya Lewis-Hozier for attending the closing reception. Our girls deserve all the love we can give!

Tanisha Stephenson
Treasurer
Dreams & Beyond NFP

Tanisha is an entrepreneur who has pioneered a number of successful business ventures. She is currently the CEO and Accounting Manager for Chicagoland Foreclosure Cleanup Co. L.L.C of Cook County. Tanisha was drawn to Dreams and Beyond because she was able to identify with the struggles of many young women through trying to raise her daughter as a single mother while completing her college degree. With the support of dedicated family members and good friends she was able to complete her undergraduate degree. She received her bachelor degree in Business Administration from Indiana University South Bend with a minor in economics. Mrs. Stephenson then returned home to Illinois to begin working for fortune 500 company AT&T, as a dedicated Accounting Manager. Tanisha went on to complete her Master’s Degree in Accounting and Finance from Keller (DeVry) University. She is now pursuing her CPA certification in Illinois. Tanisha was contacted by the founder of Dreams and Beyond Ms. Lisa Montgomery, and was inspired to help in any way to reach as many girls and young ladies with the message and services of the organization as possible. She agreed to become an intricate part of the organization as the Treasurer.

Pier Evelyn Smith
Adolescent Research
Dreams & Beyond NFP

Pier is a proud alumna of Spelman College (’06). It was at Spelman that Pier developed a lifelong commitment to the empowerment of young women. Shortly after graduating from Spelman, she was chosen to serve on Oprah Winfrey’s personal staff as Executive Assistant to the Chief of Staff at Harpo Studios. She is a member of the National Alumna Association of Spelman College, Phi Beta Kappa-Epsilon of Georgia Chapter and the Steppenwolf Auxiliary Council. Two organizations that are very near and dear to her heart are the Young Women’s Leadership Charter School of Chicago where she currently sits on the Associate Board and Imerman Angels where she serves as a mentor to families and caregivers affected by cancer. Pier strongly believes in the importance of “lifting as you climb” specifically in regards to young women in pursuit of academic excellence. It is not enough to achieve great success. She believes the most important aspect of our human experience is the way it is used to improve the condition of others.
