On behalf of Scoop Dogs of Chicago we also donated to this sweet innocent soul today. I just want to say thank you to everyone! For every follow, like, comment and client we got. I would not be able to give without getting. I am willing to structure a business based on making the world a better place. We work to be able to give. The more work and awesome people we meet the more connections we get, the more money we make, the more we can give back to our clients, the community and lost souls all around the world.

Toby was just surrendered to us…and the reason why has shaken us.

He is only 3 years old. A young, gentle soul who should have known nothing but safety and comfort. Instead, we were told that someone in his home was physically abusing him. The person who brought him to us couldn’t bear to watch it continue. It was a tearful goodbye - one made out of love, and out of desperation to get Toby somewhere safe.

Now he’s here. Safe…but everything he’s known has been taken from him.

After what Toby has been through, the last thing we want is for him to sit quietly in a room, overlooked. He deserves so much more than that. He deserves someone to come in, to see him, to choose him, and to show him what kindness really feels like. He will need patience, gentleness, and compassion as he learns to trust again, but we know there is so much love inside of him, just waiting for the chance to come out.

If you have room in your home and your heart, please apply to adopt Toby through our website: https://famousfidorescue.org/cat-adoption-application

And if you’re not in a position to adopt, you can still be part of his healing by making a donation to support his care while he’s with us: https://famousfidorescue.org/donate

Let’s not let Toby wait. Please share!

Chicago dog owners — quick question 🐕

I’m thinking about getting some yard signs made for Scoop Dogs of Chicago, and I wanted to see what people think first.

The idea behind the sign is the top part works just like those “Please pick up after your dog” signs people put in their yard or near sidewalks.

But the bottom also lets people know there’s a local service that can help keep yards clean if they ever need it.

So it’s helpful for the neighborhood, but it also spreads the word about the business at the same time.

If I made these, would anyone here put one in their yard?

Appreciate any feedback!

He adopted Fred and called him his "lucky cat." Two weeks later, that kitten gave his life to save him.

Donald VanWormer was asleep in his Tillamook, Oregon home around 1 a.m. on February 21 when something started clawing at his face. He opened his eyes to find his 9-week-old kitten Fred going crazy, scratching and freaking out right on top of him.

When he looked up, flames were already tearing through the entire attic above his head.

He crawled along the floor as fire rolled across the ceiling, grabbing Fred on his way toward the door. The heat burned his chest and face but he kept moving. Then the ceiling started collapsing. In the chaos and smoke, he lost hold of the tiny kitten.

Donald tried to go back inside but tripped and hit his head. When he came to, firefighters were there holding him back. He begged them to find Fred. By the time they got the fire under control, they found the kitten's body just inside the doorway. He had almost made it out.

Donald had adopted Fred just weeks before the fire. "When I got Fred, I told him, 'This is my lucky cat,'" he said. "One of the smarter cats I've ever had. I thought we had a lot of time together for the next 16, 20 years with that guy, but that cat saved my life."

The fire was sparked by an overheated dehumidifier and caused more than $1 million in damage to the home Donald had spent years renovating himself. His girlfriend and young daughter were not home at the time.

He's now fundraising to rebuild. But he said the hardest loss is the one he can't replace.

"I can rebuild my home and replace things, but I can never get Fred back," he said. "Fred died saving me."

Rest easy, little hero. 🕊️

As reported previously, “A new Florida law took effect on January 1 that requires the state to maintain a public database of people convicted of aggravated animal cruelty charges. “Dexter’s Law” was named for a dog adopted from a shelter and killed just days later.”

Unfortunately, there are no birthdays, photographs, or the names of the counties where the crime occurred or where the people live, to provide more identifying information. That is about to change.

The House and Senate unanimously voted to correct that defect.

If signed by the Governor, as expected, it will require the registry to include information, “including aliases, date of birth, race, counties of conviction, charges, case numbers, dispositions, descriptions of any identifying marks and tattoos and a photograph of a person.”

By knowing the right lies to tell and which truths to omit, convicted animal abusers can potentially acquire animals from shelters, rescuers, and others who lack access to valuable information to help them make better, more informed choices. An “Animal Abuser Registry,” modeled on laws now protecting children, strips abusers of this advantage by requiring those abusers to register with the state.

The No Kill Advocacy Center has model legislation for individuals seeking to enact a similar law in their city, county, or state: nokilladvocacycenter.org/the-toolkit/the-prevention-of-cruelty-to-animals-act.
