TCBL LLC is a real estate development enterprise and the parent of two small businesses that were all founded by me, Lauren Chaplin- Providence, the majority owner of this country's first black female owned and controlled investment banking and securities brokerage firm in 1987. Over the years I have transitioned from health building to wealth building, as a warrior in the battle to fight closing
the wealth gap, within communities of color. Understanding the connection between one's zip code and one's mortality rate and net worth, I've structured a pivotal program that could serve as an affordable housing and economic development model for future projects in divested communities. TCBL Development is currently awaiting the Securities and Exchange Commission's approval to conduct a multi-million dollar equity raise by means of a Reg CF crowdfunding that will initially be offered to community stakeholders, residents and small business owners to purchase commercial properties and convert them, making them conducive to a community's needs. The current project, to be funded by the Generational Wealth Builder Fund, consists of a 35,000 sq.ft. commercial space that will be converted to mixed use affordable housing and commercial rental space for qualified small businesses that need affordable housing as well as a brick and mortar location. As a means to keep expenses low the building will be self-sustainable as it will have the facility to create its own power, water and facilitate its own agricultural production, that includes fresh produce and future plans for an marijuana grow operation that will support it's on-site dispensary. When I received confirmation of the valid possibilities of my project from more than two entities, in addition to educational sponsorship to learn the nuances if affordable housing real estate at the Chicago Rehab Institute, I immediately began the process of vetting team members for the endeavor.
