👉Amazon charges a $99 Annual Fee to enroll in their consignment program. From each book’s sale, Amazon will claim 55% of retail.

👉When utilizing Amazon’s Amazon Advantage program, you will want to remember the cost of printing and shipping copies of your book in bulk to add inventory to Amazon’s warehouse(s).

👉Here is an example of a royalty breakdown:

If your book’s retail price is $15…
Amazon will keep $8.25
You will keep $6.75*
*Gross Royalty - This is still excluding the cost to print and ship your books to Amazon’s warehouse(s).

Your Net Royalty earning will vary depending on final print specifications and order quantities.

Amazon Advantage is a consignment arrangement between an author and Amazon. The author sends stock of their book to Amazon’s warehouses to become part of Amazon’s inventory.

Two of the more popular ways to sell your book through Amazon’s platform are: Amazon Advantage and Amazon Kindle Direct Publishing (KDP).

👉Selling through Amazon Advantage requires an author to print and ship inventory to Amazon’s warehouses.

👉Amazon KDP operates as a print-on-demand service and therefore does not require an author to print inventory prior to Amazon selling an author’s book on their platform.

While printing through Amazon KDP does not require an upfront investment on inventory, Amazon KDP does have limited printing options and enhancements.
