Last winter with the support of many people in St. Anne's-Belfield School, "YES" could deliver $296 to "Supporting Education in Pakistan." They were delighted to receive the donations, and over the summer they emailed back with news that they could purchase a brand new printer for the school. With our help, school faculties could now distribute informations to wider range of students in the school.

[St. Anne's-Belfield School] Hand-made Chocolate Delivery

On the Monday before the Christmas break, December 15th 2014, within the Residential Program, we have done a hand-made chocolate delivery for fundraising. The chocolates came in sets of two with the recipient’s initials on, and costed $3 for each set or $5 each for sets with initials made by chocolate pearls. The making and delivering of chocolates were led by Chloe Kim and Melody Yang. The boarders and dorm parents actively participated in the event, and a total of 296 dollars was raised. The money raised from this activity will be delivered to schools in Pakistan to purchase for basic school supplies. Since specific schools aren’t decided, further information of destination of fundraising will be posted later.

Dhoke Chaudrian Government Boy's Elementary School

The project chose supporting schools by visiting different schools in Pakistan and see which schools are in the most urgent condition. DGB was chosen because of their extreme lack in basic school supplies and dreadful condition of school. The basic supplies they needed for school were water filter, board, paved road to the front gate of the school, improvements on school conditions, and etc. The environment of school was so inadequate that they even did not have a classroom to study in. Students had to sit outside under the sun for entire classes.

WATER FOUNTAIN
Before setting up the water fountain, 400 students needed to wait in line to drink water during break. The school had only one faucet that provides water to the student. However, water fountain with three faucets were placed in the school with the support of the group and children could now shorten their time waiting in long line for not properly purified water.

DESKs and BOARDS
30 desks were purchased and distributed into three different classes in the school. Moreover, 7 big whiteboards, 3 small whiteboards. and 1 bulletin board were purchased by the money that was collected by the students. Before they got new boards, the old blackboards had been used for so long time that nothing on the board could be recognized.

History of Supporting Education in Pakistan Project

LOGO
The logo of Supporting education in Pakistan was created by the students who were involved in the project during summer. It is an image of child’s handprint which reminds the image of both child who is asking for help and also child who wants to help children who are in need. The hand is designed in a shape of heart in order to convey hope and love to the children. The colors was chosen as yellow and green because it's both a color of hope. However the colors of this logo will vary based on the regions where the group will support.

MEMBERS MEETING
On July 19th 2014, members of Supporting Education in Pakistan met before the school year started. All of the members explained how they fundraised or how they would fundraise and also shared ideas about what they would buy with the collected money. Also, at Seoul Club, on July 11th, 2014, Ed Kwon's performed the "Legerdemain" Act and raised great amount of money.
