Is Blue-J for you? It can be. An unexpected challenge became an opportunity to make an income by serving others. Which then turned into a life’s mission to teach others how to do it for themselves.
Blue-J founder Janet was a Special Education teacher before going to work full-time in her husband's business. But in 2012, life happened and Janet had to quickly find a way to support herself.
A regular desk job would be like putting a bird in a cage, so something else had to work. That something else was small office cleaning, providing an honest service for honest money. So Blue-J was born. What made Blue-J special from the start is that it fit Janet’s personal needs, while providing an income.
Blue-J grew so quickly that Janet had to expand. She faced a new challenge of finding the right employees to keep serving her customers at the same level. This unlocked entrepreneurial skills and capabilities she didn’t know she had. Sales, marketing, and management of others all had to be developed, so she did.
As it turned out, running a local small business and offering employment opportunities to the right people for the job can also serve the surrounding community. Customers get a great service, and individuals on the Autism Spectrum get an opportunity to shine at independence through work they excel at doing.
So, what does this mean for you? Janet already figured out a way to grow a profitable business and employ those on the Autism Spectrum in a sustainable, repeatable business model. And she can teach you how to do it, too.
