Cute story about my day so far!
'Twas three in the morning, and all through the house,
Not a creature was stirring, not even a mouse.
The sun was still sleeping, the stars held their light,
On the very biggest day of a broker’s whole night.
The big day was here—Medicare Annual Enrollment!
A marathon day full of client golden-moment!
I stepped out of bed with a yawn and a stretch,
Ready to face all the calls I would fetch.
When out on the floor, what a shock to my toes!
A squishy wet carpet where nobody knows!
In the quiet dark hallway, I felt with a start—
A cool puddle of p*e that sank deep in my heart.
Away to the hallway I flew like a flash,
Grabbed towels and cleaner, and spent thirty-min dash!
I scrubbed at the rug till it sparkled and shined,
While wondering who left this warm gift behind?
Then under the couch, in the shadow so dim,
I spotted two eyes looking frantic and grim.
’Twas sweet Callie, tucked tight out of sight,
And soaked to the fur in a terrible plight!
Into the bathroom we marched for a wash,
With bubbles and sponges and gentle splish-splash.
My wonderful husband handed over the gear—
Then trotted back to bed while I handled things here!
I washed Callie, and dried off her fur,
Until she was clean and started to purr.
No going back to bed for me on this night—
I’m awake and I’m ready as dawn brings the light!
For life will keep lifing, with twists and with bends,
But love (and clean carpet!) wins out in the end.
So sip on your coffee, dear broker, hold tight,
You’ve conquered the chaos that came in the night.
Take a deep breath as the morning grows bright—
Happy enrollment to all, and to all a good fight!
