We have been made aware of an emerging fraud trend targeting checks sent by mail for credit card payments. Check fraud is on the rise, unfortunately, with fraudsters employing a scheme to intercept and alter check payments sent via mail before they arrive at the intended recipient's address. To prevent fraud and protect account information for these types of payments, customers are encouraged to pay electronically when possible, using online bill pay, ACH automatic payments set up directly with a merchant, and other electronic and/or mobile payments. If utilizing our bill pay service in online banking, for example, payments to most major credit card companies are automatically sent electronically to your payee.
