As the proud mother of a member of the LGBTQ+ community, Pride Month means more to me than rainbow flags and celebrations. It’s a reminder that every person deserves to feel seen, accepted, loved, and safe exactly as they are.
While we’ve made progress, there is still work to do. Studies show that LGBTQ+ youth continue to experience significantly higher rates of depression, anxiety, and suicidal thoughts than their peers. In 2025, 36% of LGBTQ+ young people reported seriously considering su***de, and 1 in 10 reported attempting su***de. Yet research also shows that acceptance, support, and affirming communities dramatically reduce those risks.
Never underestimate the power of kindness, inclusion, and unconditional love. Sometimes simply letting someone know they belong can save a life.
This Pride Month, let’s celebrate authenticity, stand against bullying and discrimination, and create communities where everyone feels valued and accepted.
Happy Pride Month. 🌈❤️
