A NJ contractor got hit with a massive workers’ comp audit bill.

The problem wasn’t his employees.
It was his subcontractors.

He collected certificates like he was supposed to, but some were expired, some listed workers’ comp as “if any,” and some didn’t match the legal business name.

To the carrier, that meant the subs looked uninsured.

So their labor got reclassified as payroll.

Thousands of dollars later, he learned the hard truth:
Subcontractor certs don’t protect you unless they’re correct, current, and audit-proof.

If you hire subs in NJ, sloppy certificates can turn into payroll real fast.

Are you a contractor looking for better coverage? Call us at T.C. Irons today.

Nonprofit organizations need specialized liability coverages custom-designed exclusively for nonprofit and social service organizations. Like a business or a homeowner, a nonprofit organization needs to protect its property from a loss in a fire, by theft, or from many other hazards.

If you’re taking your boat south for the winter season, now is the time to check your insurance policy.

Many U.S. marine policies have navigation limits or require endorsements once you leave U.S. waters. Coverage can change quickly when you head into island or Caribbean cruising areas, especially for:

Named storm exposure
Salvage & wreck removal
Towing and emergency services
Crew and guest liability

A lot of boat owners assume they’re covered… until something happens.

Before you cross, take a few minutes to review your navigation limits and confirm your policy covers your full cruising plans for the entire season, not just the trip down.

Want a quick policy review or confirmation before you leave the dock? Send me a message—I’m happy to help.

Peace of mind travels better than paperwork.
