Gas prices are high… and unfortunately gas station scams are rising with them.

A few scams to watch for right now:

• “Helpful” strangers pumping gas for seniors, then leaving the pump running and charging fuel for other vehicles to the victim’s card
• Pump distraction scams where one person talks while another steals from your vehicle
• Tampered pump handles or fuel flaps designed to create confusion or keep fuel flowing
• Fake emergencies asking for gas money or fuel cans

A few simple habits can protect you:
• Never leave the pump unattended
• Make sure the nozzle is fully replaced before driving away
• Keep your vehicle locked while pumping
• Stay alert if someone approaches you at the pump

Most scams don’t rely on technology. They rely on distraction and confusion.

A common online security tool is now being used in a new type of scam.

Cybercriminals are increasingly using fake CAPTCHA prompts — the familiar “I’m not a robot” checks — to trick users into taking actions that can compromise their devices.

Instead of a simple verification, these prompts may ask users to click “Allow,” enable notifications, or follow additional steps that can lead to persistent pop-ups, phishing attempts, or unwanted software.

These scams often appear through ads, suspicious links, or redirected web pages, making them harder to spot at first glance.

Security experts note that legitimate CAPTCHA tests do not require enabling notifications, downloading files, or entering system commands — making those requests a potential red flag.

As these tactics evolve, staying cautious when interacting with unexpected prompts can help reduce exposure to online threats.

You will spend every dollar you make.

The question is… when?

Most people spend it all now… and wonder why the future feels uncertain.

Some money is meant for today.
But some of it needs to be sent forward.

That’s where real progress happens.

Saving money is important… but it’s not the goal.

If your money is just sitting there, it’s not growing, it’s not working, and it’s not moving you forward.

You don’t build your future by holding onto money…
you build it by giving it direction.

Most people focus on saving.
Very few focus on what happens next.

More money doesn’t fix confusion. It multiplies it.

If you don’t have a plan, more income just creates more decisions, more pressure, and more second guessing.

That’s why people can make more and still feel stuck.

It’s not a money problem. It’s a direction problem.

At some point, it’s not about earning more. It’s about knowing what to do with what you already have.

That’s where we start.

Plan. Direction. Implementation. Then we meet and repeat.

If this hit home, we should talk. financialadvisor moneyclarity

Retirement is not the end.

For most people, it is 30 or 40 years of life.

So why do we plan for it like it is a single moment?

Your life has chapters.
And your money determines how those chapters play out.

I do not just plan for retirement.
I plan for every stage of life. Cochranandrich.com
