Do you know what NOT do when the stock market is declining and the economy is contracting? Panic! Don’t Panic! Corrections and down turns in the market are normal! Markets are cyclical and downturns are inevitable. But if you panic and sell, you have taken those losses. It’s smarter to expand your time horizons and think long term. Looking back at every downturn in history, stocks eventually bottomed and rose back to former levels and well beyond. The wise and prudent investor uses a downturn to their advantage. Have a game plan and stick to it. Has your advisor talked to you about how to take advantage of a downturn? If not, we’d love to chat with you.

Do you have a plan? There have been 11 recessions since World War 2 lasting an average of 11 1/2 months. Recessions are a normal part of the business cycle and even healthy for the economy. The media loves to scare people with recession talk and doomsday scenarios…fear sells. As an investor, there are things you can do to successfully navigate a recession and there are things you shouldn’t do! The first thing you should do is make a plan. Do you have a financial plan in place? If the answer is no, we’d love to help.
