What exactly is a public adjuster and why would I need one? A licensed public adjuster (P.A.) is an insurance expert hired to handle your claim. They handle all the communications and documentation needed by your insurance company to successfully settle a homeowner or business policy claim. This requires a delicate balance of negotiating with the carrier, contractor(s), and client to identify all pertinent damages from the peril. Like the carrier's claims adjuster, a public adjuster assesses the damage to your property by investigating the damages in detail and puts together their own estimate for repairs using industry standard tools. This estimate is then submitted to the carrier on your behalf and the argue for a fair settlement based on the evidence they documented. They can handle claims that have been undervalued, completely denied, or start new claim from scratch. P.A.s also work on contingency, meaning, you only pay them a percentage, if you get paid for your damages.
