Congratulations, Sara!

Super proud of our Personal Lines team for taking the extra step for our clients.

Big news from our Personal Lines team! Sara Tappan just earned her 20-44 license, a Florida license that allows her to fully sell and service personal insurance policies.

This means every member of our Personal Lines team holds either a 20-44 or a 220 license. So, when you call us with a question or need to make a change to your policy, you're working with someone fully licensed to handle it on the spot with no extra steps in between.

That level of licensing is more than most account managers in this industry carry. It means our team can talk with you about your coverage wherever you are, whether that's here in the office, out at an event, or a phone call from home, not just within agency walls.

Today is the last day to RSVP for our free training with Preferred Governmental Insurance Trust (PGIT) on Wednesday, August 26 at the Veterans Memorial Civic Center in Bristol.

The morning covers required ethics training for elected officials. In the afternoon, HR administrators and department heads will get practical tips for managing employee performance.

Lunch is provided in between.

A contractor pulls up to your place a few days after a storm and offers to fix your roof. Do you...

A) Sign the paperwork they hand you so they can start right away
B) Let them get to work and figure out the details later
C) Take the paperwork, read it, and hold off on signing anything

The answer is C.

A lot of folks across North Florida have seen this after the last few storms. That paperwork can include something called an Assignment of Benefits, or AOB.

If you sign it, you hand over your insurance rights to the contractor. From that point, they deal with your insurance company instead of you, and you can end up shut out of decisions about your own home for months.

These crews tend to move fast and show up right after the weather clears. They'll put pressure on you because they want an answer quickly.

It’s important you know that you NEVER have to sign anything on the spot, no matter how important they make it seem in the moment.

When someone hands you paperwork and you're not sure what it means, call us before you do anything.
