On a Bulgarian split squat, you’ll see people hold the dumbbell two ways.

Same side as the front leg:
Easier to balance, good for learning the movement, less demand on the core.

Opposite side of the front leg:
Your leg, hips, and core have to work harder to keep you upright. More muscle turns on, more stability is built.

My take:
Both have a place—but if the goal is getting stronger and more athletic, holding the weight on the opposite side gives you more benefit from the same exercise.

For the science crowd:
This is called contralateral loading. It increases anti-lateral flexion demand, glute med activation, and total force production on the working leg—without adding more weight.

If eating more calories made you gain weight…
that doesn’t mean your metabolism is broken.

It usually means it’s been underfed for years.

When calories increase after long-term restriction, the scale often jumps temporarily.

That’s not always a bad thing - That’s glycogen, water, digestion, and hormones normalizing.

Picture a bouncing ball:
Week 1: big bounce
Week 2: smaller
Week 3: smaller
Then it settles.

Fat loss doesn’t start with eating less.
It starts with finding true maintenance while workout out properly.

That means:
• Using real BMR equations (Mifflin / Katch-McArdle)
• Adjusting for job activity, training, sleep, stress
• Protein set off goal bodyweight (1–1.2g/lb)
• Remaining calories split between carbs & fats (40–60)

Training matters too:
• Strength + resistance 4–6 days/week
• Cardio = 80% low intensity / 20% high intensity

Short-term scale noise ≠ fat gain.
Long-term consistency = metabolic repair.

What fast update 4 days and then some - 105 hours
Day 4 was super easy -
I stopped for my goals, which didn’t include losing any more weight.

Day 2 Water Fast - VLOg
woke up with a headache - put some LMT electrolyte pack in my coffee. Headache instantly went away.

Hunger mild - just miss the taste of food.
Workout was OK - I’m actually doing some testing totally the wrong time to do that but it’s all good.

5 pound weight drop concern concerns me. I’m not really doing this to lose weight so there will be a point where I shift…

Vulnerable Post 👇

I hurt a lot of people today - I just shared with my staff and members at my Murfreesboro gym that we would be shutting down after seven years…

🤥 The truth is this was filmed in April this past year after multiple different business ventures I attempted that could possibly provide me the liquidity to keep us open… but they flopped… and I failed.

I had just run the Numbers and I couldn’t see a way out. I have been sitting with this inevitable conclusion for months. It’s been eating me up - (some of you might’ve noticed I haven’t really posted much this past year)

This past year felt like there was an unforeseen stopping block.
I have been trying to push my own will on my life… as I always have with success…

I even thought one of the ventures was a directive from God,

but this season wasn’t the same - I wasn’t ready - the timing wasn’t right - I had some lessons to learn - I had to lose - I am being called for something 🤷‍♂️

The conclusion I will make when dust settles is that God has closed some doors and brought me to a place of humility in order for me to start a new season -

So I am going to muster all I have to listen before I act - I’ve jumped too many times, and it’s now the season for me to learn from failure and evolve and listen to his word.

To my members and staff - Thank You - Let’s finish the month strong - I appreciate your trust and support. I’ll do my best to make the last 28 days worth it. 🥊
