FLORIDA FRONT - The first big cold front this Fall is coming this weekend, Florida! It’s going to be jacket weather as lows crash into the 40s across the Panhandle, with 50s reaching all the way down to Tampa on Sunday and Monday morning. It will feel like a million bucks during the day with the dry "good feel air", lots of sun, and highs in the upper 60s and lower 70s for the northern half of Florida. Unfortunately, this front will have a tough time clearing South Florida, with and clouds; showers, and a gusty Atlantic wind keeping temperatures warmer. The forecast could trend better in the coming days but for now this front will only bring a nice taste of Fall to areas north of Lake Okeechobee. The good news is I see the potential for another Fall front next week, which would bring a stronger push of cool & dry air. Stay tuned! 🍂🎃🥶

ISAIAS | As of the 11 AM update from the NHC, Hurricane Isaias is still a strong category 3 hurricane with winds of 120 mph. The center of Isaias is expected to reach the western Florida panhandle coast this evening. Strom surge & strong winds are likely along the Florida and Alabama coasts.

Update - Tropical Storm Isaias strengthened as it moved east-northeast across the southwestern Gulf overnight. The big changes are that the forecast now has an increased speed at landfall, slight eastward shift in the track, and the intensity at landfall increased. Isaias is forecast to strengthen into a hurricane and turn north, making landfall somewhere along the northern Gulf Coast late this week. Hurricane and Storm Surge Watches will likely be issued later today.

IMPACTS - Increasing concern for significant impacts to the local area, including high winds, high surf, rip currents, storm surge, flash flooding, and tornadoes.

🌧️ Regardless of the strength at landfall, heavy rainfall remains a concern, especially along the coast after last weekend’s heavy rainfall/flash flooding.

🌊 HIGH RISK of rip currents continues through the weekend for coastal Alabama and northwest Florida beaches. Surf builds Friday morning with the potential for 10+ foot breakers late Friday afternoon through Saturday mid-morning. Surf relaxes overnight Saturday into Sunday.

🌪️ Increasing risk for tornadoes Friday into early Saturday morning to the north and east of where the center of Isaias tracks (within any heavier rain bands).

PREPARE NOW - Double-check the supplies in your preparedness kit. Fill up your vehicle with gas (or charge it). Check in with neighbors. Limit damage caused by high winds by removing any debris from your yard and trimming tree branches. Clear clogged rain gutters and storm drains to help with the flow of heavy rain. And take down your outdoor Halloween decorations so they don't wind up in your neighbor's yard. Be Prepared, Not Scared. The more you can do to prepare now, the less stressed you will be later this week.

TD #9 Update: Still a tropical depression. No real changes to the track...maybe a BIT of a nudge to the West. Either way, what will likely be Hurricane Isaias as it approaches the Alabama coastline early Saturday. NHC says Cat 2 but some models are hinting at winds close to Cat 3. We've all seen it before. Very warm Gulf waters can cause a storm to get unexpectedly stronger. NO impacts for the Bay Area.
