We've been talking about this for a while. 2 more municipalities working on "rent stabilization". We need to stay involved.

Orange County voted to put it on the Nov ballot.

New Rules Going Into Effect for Pinellas Landlords Oct 3:

Make sure that you are familiar with the requirements of the Tenants Bill of Rights for Pinellas County. It takes effect Oct 3

Tenants will be able to use housing vouchers and must get advance notice when rents and fees go up.

Tampa Landlords: Be Aware, and Be Active!

Tampa is starting the process for rent control to be on the ballot. They are planning to declare a housing emergency which allows rent control for up to a year. First reading is scheduled to be Aug 4

For investors in the surrounding area, I still recommend being involved. They are talking about trying to change the law in Tallahassee that prevents long term rent control. We can't sit back and complain about the outcome. Let's get involved and share unforeseen outcomes from the rent control idea as well as other possible solutions.

Tampa City Council voted 6-1 in favor of adding a measure on the November ballot to control rent prices. Council directed the city's attorneys to draft an ordinance the council will vote on in August.
