Yes, "at will" does mean you can fire someone without just cause. Mostly. For example you cannot release an employee for a protected reason under Title VII of the Civil Rights Act. Don't let go of an employee for the wrong reason, and make sure you document, document, document the actions which are causing you to act towards letting someone go. As they say in the HR world, "if you didn't write it down, then it didn't happen."
