Council Day 2:

The second day of business sessions & learning was just as inspiring as the first!

We got to mingle with other phenomenal agents from across the country, learn how we can maximize our value given to clients, & how to get the most out of our philanthropic programs!!

Jesse Itzler provided an incredible keynote that really hit home.... His theme was how to put our SOUL into everything we do, & to be very intentional with the words we speak & the reality we give power to. I could write an entire separate post on it, honestly. He has some pretty incredible stories.... If you ever get the chance, ask about his Mark Wahlberg coconut water commercial. 😂

Business sessions were followed by the most wonderful awards dinner - Shout out to NYL for the gifted gold bracelet (not pictured) - I cannot remember a single company that has ever made me feel so valued. 😊

I am in utter awe.

Council Day 1:

First, I should probably start by sharing what achieving Executive Council actually means.

At New York Life, reaching Executive Council marks a pretty pivotal moment in an agent’s career—and, at least for me, it comes with a big question:

Was this a run to the finish line… or is this just the beginning?

Achieving Executive Council means I now stand among the top 10% of New York Life financial professionals nationwide, and that is an accomplishment I am incredibly proud to carry.

Council achievement reflects the business we’ve built and the work we’ve done serving our clients. To reach this level and be surrounded by so many accomplished professionals is both humbling and incredibly motivating.

Day One included an incredible keynote from our Head of Agency—and when they played Eminem’s “Lose Yourself” during the opening welcome video, I KNEW I was in the right place. 😂

We spent the day learning from generations of phenomenal advisors who came before us, studying what has made them successful, and diving into concepts that will help us continue growing into better professionals for the clients and communities we serve.

And if there’s one thing I’m walking away with after Day One, it’s this:

I’m just getting started.

I am SO stoked to see what I can become over the next several years in this business.

My tank is full.
My batteries are charged.
And I am READY to keep running—for my clients, for my community, and for the future I know I’m capable of building.

LET’S GOOOO! 🏃‍♀️🔥

Two weeks ago, we held our Council Kickoff for the New York Life Idaho General Office at the Stueckle Sky Center in Boise.

I've been reflecting a TON on what I learned—and what I've absorbed—from that experience.

One thing keeps coming back to me: This career is SO not linear. And the advisors who treat it as such are missing out on some huge opportunities.

And that's not necessarily new news to most of us.

But what I mean is that this isn't a career where I just sell life insurance or help people plan for retirement and their estates.

This is a career where relationships matter. Where knowing people at a deeper level is the norm.

I'm not just helping families think through how they might fund their children's education, prepare for a comfortable retirement, or make room for the travel they've always dreamed about.

I'm not just helping business owners think through how to protect, grow, and TRANSFORM what they've built into something that can support their financial freedom for years to come.

My job is not linear—because people's lives aren't linear.

Some of my most engaged clients knew me for YEARS before they ever came to me for financial guidance.

When we first met, I wasn't the first person they needed to talk to.

And that's okay.

At that point in their life, maybe what I could offer was a connection. Some health and wellness tips. A book recommendation. An introduction to a networking group. An invitation to a lunch and learn.

And then I got to watch what happened next.

I watched mindsets shift.
Health improve.
Great habits form.
Businesses grow.
Lives change.

And looking back, I believe some of those relationships were preserved precisely because I didn't try to force the financial conversation when there were other things that needed attention first.

Financial health isn't linear either.

So I will continue dedicating my life's work to knowing HUMANS deeply.

Understanding what matters to them. Paying attention to where they are—not just where I think they should be. And finding ways to provide value and serve them, both inside my industry and outside of it.

Because sometimes the best thing you can do for someone isn't the thing you sell.

It's simply being the person who shows up with value when they need it.

BIG thank you to Braden Draggoo for speaking at our kickoff and reminding us of what truly matters:

People—and providing value to them.

There's more financial advice out there for young people than ever—and somehow, that's making things harder, not easier. Trends like ""girl math"" and ""no-spend"" months turn budgeting into a game or a punishment, when what most young people actually need is a plan.
I'm sharing an article that gets into why all this noise is landing the way it is—and what actually helps cut through it.

Many people assume the worst about the future of Social Security, and the concern is valid. But the full picture is more complicated than “it’s running out.”
This piece from Yahoo Finance breaks down what’s actually happening and what it could mean for your retirement:

This morning, I had the opportunity to spend time at the Boise Faces of Hope location celebrating some truly powerful philanthropic wins 🤍

In case you haven’t heard of them (and you should), Faces of Hope provides free crisis intervention services to men, women, and children experiencing:

domestic violence
sexual assault
child abuse
elder abuse
stalking
human trafficking

And when I say they show up for people… I mean they SHOW UP.

Their wraparound support includes:
✨ Safety planning, protection orders, and legal aid
✨ Crisis counseling and support groups
✨ Classes and case management
✨ Emergency assistance (food, gas, shelter, clothing, diapers, car seats, transportation, lock changes, even cell phones)
✨ Referrals for financial literacy, job training, employment support, and public assistance programs

Basically… they are in the business of helping people rebuild their lives when everything feels like it’s falling apart.

I’m constantly reminded that the strongest communities are the ones that take care of their people—and Boise, you’re doing something right.

Big thanks to Team Idaho at New York Life for making this donation possible!
