Bethlehem Trails Association

Bethlehem Trails Association There is great terrain for people of all abilities and we are excited about getting started on this project!

Bethlehem Trails Association was formed during the summer of 2017 to promote mountain biking and other non-motorized outdoor activities throughout the Town of Bethlehem. We are looking for people interested in helping with this project but are not set up for fundraising at this time. If you are interested in making a financial donation please reach out to some of the other great organizations in t

he area like FA-NEMBA in Franconia or PRKR MTN in Littleton. We are looking forward to someday working with these two great organizations to make this region a world class destination for outdoor enthusiasts.

The start of mud season has us excited for dirt riding season! While the dirt needs at least a month to dry, we figured we would start flooding your algorithm with MTB footage.

Here is a reel from the early days of Brokedown Palace with a few local groms. If you look closely you can see a few clips before AND after the big wood burm-to-drop feature was built.

“The Best New Trail In The State” 🙌

Thank you to for the YouTube highlight of our trails. It certainly has taken a village of volunteers with vision, grit, psych, and a lot of “wont settle for less than excellence” to get to where we are as a trails association. 🍻to the next evolution.

Bethlehem Trails is small but mighty, and we continue to build trails for the community, by the community.

Please take a few minutes to watch the YouTube 🎥 that created. Link 👉 in Bio.

If you love our trails please donate. we are 100% volunteer. Link to Donate 👉 in Bio

NEW TRAIL DROP!

BTA is excited to announce the opening of Free Ride Glade.

Free Ride Glade is a choose your challenge open glade that is raw and loamy. This trail descends a steep, open glade where you can creatively weave your own descent path, a rarity in New England!

Trail: Free Ride Glade
Difficulty: Black Diamond
BTA Recommended Ride: From the Truckin trailhead climb Truckin all the way to the same elevation as the Shoulder Roll rock roll and drop in on the right to Free Ride Glade. This will spit you back out on Truckin where you can climb back up, or pick up Shoulder Roll at the 1/2 way mark for a quick loop.

Stay tuned for other recommended rides and one more new trail for fall 2025!

We: built trail (look for a New Trail announcement soon!), hung new signs (Thank you land owners), w**d wacked the lower network and trimmed the mountain trails. Phew! We are tired but our ❤️’s are full.

If you missed out and want to “buy a shovel” or make a donation that will directly benefit our trails, go to 👉 the link in our bio and donate now. 🙏

ATTENTION!! IMPORTANT INFO

Attention all riders! Lets talk about acceptable parking locations on the Bethlehem Trails network. We have 4 parking areas that can be used. Parking ANYWHERE outside of these 4 lots can jeopardize everyone’s access to the trails. Please only park in one of the following locations. We have seen some folks pushing these parking rules recently.

1. The Elm St Trailhead. Parking for all vehicles including large vehicles, adaptive riders, and large groups. Kiosk with Trail Maps found here.
2. Bethlehem Park & Pool town lot. This includes the gravel lot behind the post office. Handicapped spaces. Convenient center of town location. Larger groups.
3. Bethlehem Skatepark and Basketball Court town parking. Great location for a Summit ride that ends . ;) Handicapped Spaces, medium sized groups.
4. Truckin Trailhead. 3 Parking Spaces ONLY. Carpool to this lot at the stone church please.

Scroll through for all areas closed to parking! This is important y’all as our network relies on positive relationships with private landowners. Parking is a classic issue that can cause many problems.

Today, we talk about gratitude and behavior.

Without the landowners who graciously allow access to their property so we can ride and hike on BTA trails, there would be no BTA.

What does this mean for each of us? We must recognize that the gift of access isn’t free, but it doesn’t cost $$. It only costs us Gratitude.

grat•i•tude
• “the quality of being thankful; readiness to show appreciation for and to return kindness.”

Join us in thanking the landowners, and please be respectful of their property and land. In short: Ride with Gratitude. If you ever see someone not riding wth gratitude, have a conversation if you are comfortable, or simply drop us a DM.

See you on the trails.

Expect some more updates and reminders throughout the remainder of the summer. And if you have any ideas or recommendations on what we should work on during this trail day, let us know!

One of the miraculously special parts of our trails here in Bethlehem is our summit. The Bethlehem Trails are broken up into three primary riding zones: The Ammonoosuc, Behind The Town, and today’s focus; Mount Agassiz.

The trails off Mount Agassiz require some “rewarding” climbing to reach the best summit views in Bethlehem, BUT the long descents that follow make it all worth it. This sector combines gloriously hand built trails and machinery refinement.

In the 1880’s the carriage road and observatory seen in these photos were constructed. The observatory allowed for some of the best panoramic views in our area. From the summit of Agassiz, 370 peaks across 3 states and even some of Canada can be viewed! Mt. Agassiz traded hands quite a few times over the past 150 years. One our favorite historical tidbits is the history of Magic Mountain Express, which was a tractor rigged to look like a train trolley. It drove people up and down Agassiz to see the view until it closed in 1973.

Interested in seeing this view in person for yourself? Climb on up Truckin’ to Into The Wild to get there! Enjoy Fast Times on your way down, then pick your poison between Shoulder Roll or Brokedown Palace. Want more riding? Use Shoulder Press to grab a second scoop of Shoulder Roll.

Thanks to our BTA members for pictures and videos!
