Great Loop Ep. 9: Wrightsville Beach → Morehead City 🛥️

In this leg of our Great Loop adventure, we cruised from Wrightsville Beach to Morehead City, stopping at Mile Hammock Bay Anchorage along the way ⚓️

With inlets around every corner, the current’s constantly changing making it a bit of a challenge to perfectly time bridge openings 😅

We had our most “exciting” part of the day when both of our engines suddenly wouldn’t maintain RPMs underway 👀.

We started troubleshooting once we got to our anchorage and narrowed it down to clogged Racor filters, swapped them out and the engines were back to running properly.

Our previous owner used 10 Micron filters which filter more particles than the recommended 30 Micron filters, so we need to swap them out more frequently than the 30 Micron filters.

Also, be ready for the currents ripping through the area of Morehead City and Beaufort!
