This page is dedicated to providing those who care about Johnny and his family with updates on his well-being and ways to help. On September 13th, 2013, our friend Johnny Wahlborg was involved in a terrible automobile accident in Ocean Springs, Mississippi. He was transferred to the Our Lady of the Lake Trauma Center in Baton Rouge on September 19. Johnny's friends, classmates, fraternity brothers
, students, and the tennis community have created this page to facilitate updates on Johnny's progress, and articulate ways people who care about the Wahlborg family can help. An administrative team has been staying in touch with Johnny's wife Hydie to help organize fundraising efforts. Importantly, we have collected over $10,000 in the first week of our collective efforts. Our goal is $200,000. Please consider the following tiered giving levels:
Grand Slam - $5000 (seeking 10 donors)
Ace - $1000 (seeking 50 donors)
Rally - $500 (seeking 100 donors)
Fan Club - $100 (seeking 500 donors)
In the meantime, there are two ways people can help Johnny and his family immediately: 1) Walk into any Iberia Bank branch and ask to make a donation to the John Wahlborg donation account. Donations of checks and/or cash will be accepted at any branch. 2) Mail a check made payable to “John Wahlborg” to Craig Netterville at Iberia Bank and he will deposit it into the account. Craig A. Stayed tuned to this page for more ways to help, including tax free options, credit card options, and fundraising events. This excerpt from Johnny's Total Tennis web site best describes what we can expect from our friend in the days, weeks, and months to come:
“Love the battle. The battle to develop a positive attitude, even when things get tough, in tennis, in sports, and in life. We strive to help our students develop confidence, do their best, accept life’s challenges, and excel in everything they do – on and off the court.”
– Johnny Wahlborg
