✅ CREDIT TIP OF THE DAY 📌
Before you EVER pay on a debt that’s in collections — pause.
Once a debt has been sold to a third-party collector, the original creditor is typically no longer involved. That means the collector must prove they have the legal right to collect and that the debt is:
✔️ accurate
✔️ yours
✔️ within the statute of limitations
✔️ properly assigned to them
You are NOT required to just hand over money because they’re calling.
Always send a Debt Validation Letter first.
Ask them to provide:
📄 the original contract with your signature
📄 a full accounting of the debt
📄 proof of assignment/ownership
If they can’t validate it — they can’t legally collect it.
Knowledge is power. Don’t let collectors intimidate you into paying without proof.
Each one teach one. 🤝❤️
Credit education changes lives.
