Our Women's Committee Chair, Romy Strickland along with volunteers Rebekah Strickland, Tonya Childs and Office Manager Cindy Vandiver enjoyed a day celebrating agriculture at the District 5 Women's Leadership Meeting. They were able to make beautiful bouquets at Green Gate Farms in Griffin. Afterwards they enjoyed a lunch at the UGA campus in Griffin provided by The Southern Shack and they were able to learn from Brittani Lee, Northwest District 4-H PDC about ways Extension and County Farm Bureaus can partner together. Everyone also enjoyed a little competition to see which teams made the best dessert.

Spalding County Farm Bureau hosted the Georgia Ag Experience with the Griffin/Spalding County Library in June at the City Park Community Center. We had about 200 people in attendance where they were able to see opportunities in agriculture with hands on virtual games. Other vendors were Spalding County Fire Department, Kayla Carreon's Jurassic Park Jeep, City Church giving away ice cream and the Spalding County Sheriff's Department with their hot dog truck.

Spalding County Farm Bureau (SCFB) Women's Committee Chairman Romy Strickland, and SCFB Office Manager Cindy Vandiver, recently presented a copy of the children's ag book "I Love Blueberries" to Natalie Marshal, Executive Director and Bea Mengel, Children's Specialist for the Griffin/Spalding County Library. Spalding County student Sarai Lynch is the winner of the SCFB Middle School Bookmark Contest. Participants were provided a blank bookmark and asked to draw a picture that depicts some aspect of Georgia agriculture. As the county winner, Lynch's winning bookmark advanced to the GFB District 5 Bookmark Contest. Nahyma Arianna Rodriquez Idiaquez and Lavina Irving were second and third place winners of the SCFB Bookmark Contest. All three students attend Rehoboth Middle School and are students of Art teacher Milton Mays. Pictured are Romy Strickland, SCFB Women's Leadership Committee Chair, Idiaquez, Lynch, Mays and Irving.

Spalding County homeschool student, Claire Culverson is the winner of the Spalding County Farm Bureau High School Art Contest. Participants were asked to draw a picture that depicts some aspect of Georgia agriculture. As the county winner, Culverson's winning artwork advanced to the Georgia Farm Bureau 5th District High School Art Contest.
