I get this question every now and then, "Do I need a local bookkeeper?" My answer used to be something like "It depends on the specific service, or what exactly the bookkeeper will be in charge of, or the style of bookkeeping, etc. that determines if it can be done remotely."
But now, with the current quality and robustness of online apps, remote access and cloud technologies, specifically in the bookkeeping and accounting industry, all bookkeeping and accounting, for any size or type of business, can be done remotely.
Pair that with apps like Skype and Zoom, and even a Full Charge Bookkeeper, for a large corporation, could work exclusively from another city or state.
We currently have clients in CA, TX, FL, GA, SC, NC, NY, WA, etc. We work with each of them just as if they were next door.
