HAPPY FAIR MONTH!

We’re looking forward to the 2026 Anne Arundel County Fair Inc. and we're especially excited to be supporting one of our favorite annual agricultural events: The Anne Arundel County 4-H/ FFA Livestock Auction, which will be taking place at The Livestock Barns on September 19 from 6:00-9:00PM.

The auction features a wide array of animals raised and sold by Anne Arundel County 4-H and Southern FFA members to support their education, and we're thrilled to announce that AGGY WILL BE BACK in the ring to cheer on the students and encourage everyone to BID, BID, BID in the name of agricultural education.

Learn more about the auction below and please give Aggy a wave if you attend!

Congratulations to The Greene Turtle on celebrating 50 years in business!

Steve Adams was proud to help commemorate the incredible milestone and recognize the business’s constant contributions to its communities at The Greene Turtle, where it hosts the annual Southern High FFA Alumni Car, Truck & Tractor Show and hosted the Southern Anne Arundel Chamber of Commerce’s inaugural Community & Cars on August 29.

We’re grateful that a business that started in Ocean City now has four locations in Anne Arundel County (Edgewater, Gambrills, Hanover, and in BWI Thurgood Marshall Airport (BWI)), and we look forward to seeing it serve up more good food and good times in the years ahead!

With harvest season ahead, we'd like to remind the agricultural community that AAEDC's VOLT Fund exists to help your agricultural or waterman business grow.

Managed by AAEDC on behalf of the Maryland Department of Commerce, the Fund offers low-interest loans (currently priced at a fixed 5.00%) from $25,000 to $500,000 with flexible payment terms to support startups, expansion, and equipment purchases. In addition, loans up to $1,000,000 are now available for the purpose of purchasing commercial real estate.

AAEDC has awarded nearly $26 million in loans to 200+ businesses since we began managing the VOLT Fund, in 2013, and we're ready to support the growth of more farms, producers, and commercial watermen through it.

Discover how a VOLT loan helped Morris Hill Farm expand its operations below and reach out to us to talk about how it could help you expand yours today!

The 2026 Blessing of the Harvesters has been cancelled!

We were looking forward to wishing our farmers a safe and bountiful harvest at the event, but it looks like Mother Nature will be blessing them with a lot of rain instead.

So here's to a great season, and thank you to all the people who produce the food and fiber that help keep our residents fed!

What a great A Taste of Arundel Grown 2026 it was!

Hosted at Homestead Gardens in Davidsonville, our sold-out signature summer event celebrated Anne Arundel County agriculture by featuring:
- A one-of-a-kind menu featuring 23 delicious dishes made by Wharf 38 Executive Chef Brandon Moser using ingredients from 17 of Anne Arundel County’s farmers, watermen, and producers.
- Local wine and beer from Crooked Crab Brewing Company, Great Frogs Winery, Old Barn Brewery, Oliver Brewing Company, Pherm Brewing Company, and The Vineyards at Dodon.
- Powerful words on the importance of buying local by Maryland Department of Agriculture Secretary Kevin Atticks, County Executive Steuart Pittman, AAEDC President & CEO Amy Gowan, and AAEDC Agricultural Business Development Director Shelley Garrett.
- Amazing experiences including a Build-Your-Own Bouquet Bar by Zangs Farm Fresh Produce and Flowers and the inaugural A Taste of Arundel Grown Silent Auction, which raised an incredible $4,260, as well as incredible live music from Aaron Hawkins.

Plus, thanks to the generosity of over 40 sponsors and producers we were able to donate $1,500 to the Southern FFA (Future Farmers of America) Chapter as well as add funds to our Agricultural Business Improvement Grant (ABIG) program that directly supports local farmers.

Click below to see all the great moments that Galactic Geist Photography owner Mikkel Guentsch and our staff captured at the beautiful event, and please make plans to join us again in 2027!
