We’re excited to announce that our Agricultural Business Improvement Grant Program, aka ABIG, is BACK in 2026!

Now in its fourth year, ABIG will again offer for-profit farm-based businesses and commercial watermen in Anne Arundel County matching grants of up to $10,000 to expand their operations.

We will be accepting applications from November 1 through December 1, so visit our ABIG page to learn more then start thinking about A BIG project you’d like to apply for today!

The SoCo Community Trunk or Treat is just a day away, taking place on October 13 from 4:00-7:00PM at Knightongale Farm Agritainment LLC!

100% of the proceeds benefit the Harwood 4H Livestock Club and Southern FFA, so don't miss your opportunity to support the local business community and the future of agriculture in Anne Arundel County!

This event was started by the business community in 2018 and has been going strong for 8 years now (minus 2020!) We are grateful for the Knightongale Farm Agritainment LLC family as our event sponsor and host. They open their farm to the community and give 100% of the benefits the the Harwood 4H Livestock Club and Southern FFA. We would not be able to host this event without their support. Be sure to support these local organizations and learn more about what they offer for youth education.

Congratulations to the Maryland Department of Agriculture and Maryland's Best on hosting another incredible Governor's Buy Local Cookout!

We were proud to sponsor the event, and Amy Gowan and Steve Adams had a great time sampling delicious dishes made with ingredients from across the state. Amy and Steve were especially excited to see four graduates of our business accelerator program participating in the event:
- Caliente Grill owner Roxana Rodriguez, who featured Arundel-caught blue catfish from Wild Country Seafood in her Maryland- and Salvadoran-inspired dish.
- Bread and Butter Kitchen owner and chef Monica Alvarado, who showcased pork from New Roots Farm and produce from Mise En Place Farm in her delicious Pumpkin-Chipotle Pernil Tostada.
- New Roots Farm owner Sarah Campbell, who contributes meat to our own buy local event, A Taste of Arundel Grown, each year, and twice expanded operations at her West River farm with support from our Agricultural Business Improvement Grant (ABIG) Program.
- Chronic Sailing owner (and incredibly talented musician) Shawn Owen, who provided the mood music for the evening.

It was great to see so many more familiar faces and businesses at the Cookout as well – from Wharf 38 (and A Taste of Arundel Grown 2026) Chef Brandon Moser and CJ Canby to Annapolis Oyster Company and Cane Collective.

With the third day of Business Appreciation Week in Anne Arundel County upon us, we're excited to highlight the first farm-based business that we visited this week: FAFO Farms!

We had a great time touring the beautiful family-run farm in Davidsonville, learning about all that goes into raising and training its Highland cattle, and hearing how quickly the Calabreses were able to expand their operations with the new greenhouse that was supported with a matching grant from our ABIG Program. It was exciting to hear about all their big plans for the 13-acre farm's future, as well.

What a fantastic 2026 Anne Arundel County Fair it was!

We had a great time joining in the annual celebration of all-things Anne Arundel County agriculture, and we're grateful that Aggy the Farm Owl was invited to cheer on all the incredible youth who showcased the animals that they worked so hard to raise in another action-packed (and record-setting!) Anne Arundel County 4-H/ FFA Livestock Auction. We were proud to present a citation to John Faber to thank the Anne Arundel County Fair Inc. for spurring economic activity and celebrating our county's oldest industry for the past 74 years as well.

Thanks to everyone who helped make the fair a fantastic one - we're already looking forward to next year!
