We are excited to launch our Grief-Sensitive Schools Initiative in partnership with the DeKalb County School District at Margaret Harris Comprehensive School and Oakcliff Elementary School!

As part of this initiative, we were proud to present each school with a $500 grant to support grief resources and bereavement services for students, staff, and families.

A special thank you to Quintin DeGroot, Principal Dr. Sherry Johnson, Principal Keisha Sims, and AP Dr. Artese McCrae for their leadership and commitment to supporting students through grief and loss. We look forward to continuing to strengthen our partnership with DeKalb County School District and expanding this important work.

We are proud to share that Boys & Girls Clubs of Metro Atlanta is now recognized as a Grief-Sensitive Organization. Through our Grief Sensitive Schools Initiative, we provide the training, resources, and ongoing support for staff to better serve youth navigating grief and loss.

In recognition of this important milestone, and through our partnership across their 25 clubs, the New York Life Foundation awarded $12,500 in grant funding to support the youth and families they serve.

With the assistance of Tanya Watkins, Ambernique Howard, and Malcolm Anderson, this collaboration reflects a shared commitment to ensuring young people have access to compassionate, informed support during life’s most difficult moments.

We recently had the honor of presenting a $1,000 grant to McKenna Farms Therapy Services in support of the incredible work they do for children and families in our community.

McKenna Farms is a nonprofit providing physical, occupational, and speech therapy for children with special needs from birth to age 21. Their interdisciplinary services take place in a unique, home-like setting featuring a farmhouse, therapy cottages, and therapeutic riding (hippotherapy).

Congratulations to McKenna Farms on becoming officially Grief-Sensitive Schools Initiative (GSSI) Plus certified. We are excited to help provide bereavement resources for your team and the families you serve and look forward to continuing to strengthen our partnership.

Three years ago, I was recruited from a steakhouse in Alpharetta. I never could have imagined joining a Fortune 100 company let alone being recognized on this stage. This journey has not only changed my life, but created opportunities for my family to flourish. The impact we’re making and the community we’ve built along the way has been immensely fulfilling.

Celebrating Partnership and Community Impact with Fulton County School District!

We are thrilled to announce our ongoing partnership with New York Life Greater Atlanta and the New York Life Foundation across the Fulton County School District! Of the 108 schools in the district, 97 schools have joined us in meaningful initiatives to support students and staff with bereavement resources. Through the Grief Sensitive Schools Initiative (GSSI) and Kai's Journey Read Aloud, we've collectively awarded $89,500 in grants to these participating schools.

This incredible journey would not have been possible without the unwavering support of Dr. Mike Looney, Montreal Bell, Mercedez Jackson, Maribel Bell, Ashley Garrison, Patrice Barlow, Samantha Maxey, the leadership and MTSS teams of the participating schools, and my dedicated fellow agents.
