Peace by Piece was founded by two former Peace Corps Volunteers who noticed how much kitenge fabric was left unused by tailors. In over two years the community based organization has grown to 17 tailors, having sold over 50 million UGX worth of quilts. This income generating activity fosters business development and personal money management. We hold weekly workshops train tailors on how to work w

ithin a budget and operate as successful entrepreneurs. Since the formation of Peace by Piece our tailors have drastically improved their living standards and business skills. As the business continues to thrive, the tailors earn a much higher income and are now able to adequately contribute to their monthly financial obligations. Furthermore, the income generated trickles down to the Masindi community at large. Through our benevolence fund, we are able to give back to the community by making school uniforms for primary students. This has a positive impact on their education, as they will now be able to learn without being chased for not having proper school uniforms.
