The book gives an insight into the effects of crises on culture, language, society and people. The lives behind a crisis
In recent years, media have been very busy covering the big stories in Europe as it has been flooded with crises. First, the financial crash of Greece; then the civil war in the Ukraine; followed by millions of people seeking asylum from the terror reign of ISIS which then found
its way to the very heart of Europe with the dramatic attacks in Paris. It has been tough years for the European Union; unquestionable. Media did not get one break between reporting. However, we feel like in all these reports about the crises, in all those discussions and debates about politics, money and borders, something really important has been forgotten: There are people that live with these crises β everyday. Who are those people whose lives have changed in a blink of an eye? We'd like to find out. In the coming year we are planning to travel to four places in Europe that have been hit by a crisis recently. We will spend one week in Paris (France), one week in Passau (Germany), one week in Kiev (Ukraine) and one week in Athens (Greece. We want to get to know these places and most importantly the people, their stories and their lives. We are hoping to find that beside all the differences in European culture, finances and politics that we all deal with the same dreams, fears and hopes for us and our families. Our dream is to share this experience with the rest of the world in form of a narrative book that tells the story about a side of Europe that neither locals nor tourists really know about.
