Meet our scholarship recipients— Grace Patterson, Twenty Forward Scholarship 2026 🎉
From Western Sydney, Grace Patterson always saw something others overlooked. That technology and law are not two separate worlds, but one evolving frontier urgently in need of people brave enough to stand at the intersection.
As a penultimate year student studying Information Systems and Laws, Grace chose a path that raised eyebrows early on.
“My friends, family, and school were concerned about me pursuing a computer science degree, especially as a woman in a double degree. But I could see a gap in our system where law and technology were not being treated as a unit, and I could see the repercussions of that.”
Rather than viewing those circumstances as barriers, Grace adapted, building confidence in technical environments and leaning fully into the interdisciplinary nature of her degree.
“I persevered with a strong conviction that the intersection of technology and law will shape the future of our global society. This belief continues to drive my ambition to build an international career at the forefront of this evolving field.”
This summer, Grace will take her ambitions global, heading to Shanghai as one of our Twenty Forward Scholarship recipients for a 4-week internship in one of the world’s most dynamic technology ecosystems. For her, Shanghai is not just a destination. It is a living case study in how innovation, regulation and digital governance can shape the future.
And if there is one quote that captures who Grace is, it is simply this: “Take on the world.”
We are honoured to be part of your journey, Grace. The future of technology law could not be in better hands. 🌏
