President Kiir supports new policy to speed up road construction

President Salva Kiir Mayardit has endorsed a new policy proposal aimed at accelerating road construction across South Sudan following a briefing by Roads and Bridges Minister Peter Lam Both on Thursday.

The proposal includes the establishment of an escrow account for oil revenues to improve transparency and attract international contractors for road projects.

President Kiir reaffirmed road connectivity as a government priority, while updates were also presented on the Juba–Bahr el Ghazal Highway, Nadapal–Boma–Ethiopia Highway, and the Juba–Torit–Nadapal Highway.

President Kiir Launches Enhanced Presidential Website

President Salva Kiir has launched an enhanced presidential website aimed at improving public access to government information and official communication.

The platform will provide updates on government activities, national policies, presidential engagements, speeches, and official announcements.

Speaking at the launch, President Kiir said the website will promote transparency, accountability, and help counter misinformation through timely official updates.

The government also announced plans to establish an Official Government Gazette to publish laws, regulations, and official notices.

Officials described the initiative as a key step toward modernizing government communication and strengthening public engagement.

Senior 4 (Form 4) Exams Officially Begin in Twic County

Twic County Acting Commissioner Hon. Makut Ayuel, together with the County Deputy Director for Education, Mr. Kuol Deng Malual, officially rang the bell at St. Augustine Secondary School in Turalei Payam, marking the commencement of the Senior 4/Form 4 examinations across the entire county.

The ceremony was attended by county education officials and school administrators who gathered to witness the official kick-off of this year’s national examinations, wishing all candidates success and excellence.

BREAKING: Young Girl Sexually Assaulted by Group in Zagalona, Wau

A young girl was reportedly assaulted by a group of men in Zagalona, Wau, last night after she declined their advances at a local gathering. The men fled before police arrived, and no arrests have been made.

During their escape, one of the suspects lost a sandal, which was found and identified by a local resident. Police and the girl’s family are working together to locate the owner of the sandal as investigations continue.

1. President Kiir has reappointed Dr. James Wani Igga as Vice President for the Economic Cluster, replacing Dr. Benjamin Bol Mel, who was dismissed last week.

2. Dr. James Wani Igga has also been reinstated as the First Deputy Chairperson of the SPLM.

3. Michael Makuei Lueth has been relieved from his position as Minister of Information, Communication, Technology and Postal Services and replaced by Ateny Wek Ateny, the former Press Secretary in the Office of the President.

4. Dr. Joseph Geng Akec, Minister of Justice and Constitutional Affairs, has been dismissed, and Michael Makuei Lueth has been appointed to replace him after his removal from the Information Ministry.

5. Simon Mijok Mijak, Minister of Roads and Bridges, has been sacked and replaced by Peter Lam Both, former SPLM Secretary-General.

6. Josephine Napwon Cosmos, Minister of Environment and Forestry, has been relieved, and Mabior Garang Mabior, son of the late Dr. John Garang, has been appointed in her place.

7. The Inspector General of Police, Gen. Abraham Manyuat Peter, has been dismissed and replaced by Gen. Sed Chawul Lom.

8. Rabi Mujung, Governor of Central Equatoria State, has been sacked, and Emmanuel Adil has been reappointed as Governor.

SSPDF Launches Precision Airstrikes in Gogrial East Targeting Armed Criminal Elements

Gogrial East County, Warrap State – June 5, 2025 — The South Sudan People’s Defence Forces (SSPDF) on Thursday morning carried out targeted aerial strikes in Gogrial East County, Warrap State, as part of an ongoing military operation aimed at dismantling criminal networks destabilizing the region.

According to military sources, the strikes were launched at dawn and focused on three key locations — Malual Kuel, Malual Adoor, and Awutwut — areas reportedly serving as operational bases for armed criminal groups involved in persistent violence and lawlessness.
