This is Joseph Obwany, the student the government abandoned despite the fact he was the best student in South Sudan Secondary School certificate scoring 95.1%
Itβs with great shame that I share this story with every concerned citizen.
This boy was the best student in Secondary School Certificate in the whole country, I happened to meet him one day in Juba Market and I was so shocked. So friendly and opened guy. I feel ashamed when I found out that he wasn't granted any scholarship nor did anyone dare to ask about him. He was left to suffer like any other student even though being the No.1 in the country.
Imagine, a friend of mine saw him one day lining up in one of the local universities just to pick an admission form.
That's very unfair, where is the National government's role, where is the state government or even the Community.
I learned that this guy was once the best pupil in Primary School Certificate 2016 CES and he triumphantly repeated it by leading the Whole nation again. Such kind of an intellectual is supposed to be under government responsibility and sponsorship, but as for our country South Sudan, this brilliant boy was left marginalized not even did the gatekeeper of the ministry of Education bother to call and meet him,
To take an example the our neighbouring countries, i.e KENYA, SUDAN..etc. The best student in the country always meet the President, VP or the minister of Education as a motivation for the other student to study hard. Where is this thing in South Sudan, how can we motivate those student who will be sitting for exam in the coming years. Of course those students won't work hard because they will have learned from the story of this brilliant guy that whatsoever you do in this country, you will not receive the recognition and attention you deserve.
If you want to destroy a country, just destroy its system of Education, and this is almost the case in this country.
This Boy(intectual)deservese a fully oh scholarship or even.
