SDRB has successfully completed its first independent external audit since its re-establishment in 2014. Conducted by Deloitte — a Big Four audit firm — this marks a significant milestone in the Bank’s institutional development and reinforces its commitment to transparency, accountability and strong governance.

The audit covered SDRB’s financial statements for the year ended 31 December 2024 and represents an important step in strengthening the Bank’s credibility, financial management and operational standards. It also builds on a broad programme of institutional reforms implemented over the past year.

Through these reforms, SDRB is building the institutional strength and credibility required to support sustainable development finance in Somalia.

SDRB, in partnership with the Somali Bankers Association, successfully concluded a two-day Executive Capacity Building Workshop on Islamic Banking and Development Finance in Mogadishu yesterday. The workshop was delivered by trainers from the ISRA Institute at I N C E I F University, Malaysia.

Participants from Somalia’s commercial banks and microfinance institutions were engaged in discussions on strengthening Islamic finance practice across the sector. Sessions covered Shariah-compliant product development, risk and compliance, and other pertinent topics.

The programme also provided participants with an opportunity to exchange experiences and consider practical approaches to expanding the role of Islamic banking and development finance in Somalia.

SDRB’s Director General, Adam Roble, participated in a high-level panel at the Central Bank of Somalia’s 4th Annual Conference on Economic Policy in Mogadishu today.

During the discussion, DG Adam highlighted how stronger partnerships among stakeholders and financial institutions can accelerate financial inclusion and outlined practical pathways for expanding access to financial services across Somalia.

SDRB held a training on ESG, Climate and Sustainability for representatives of Somali financial institutions, including commercial banks and MFIs, in Mogadishu yesterday.

Conducted in collaboration with Impact Africa Consultancy, the session strengthened capacity on climate risk, ESG integration and sustainability reporting, with attendees receiving certificates upon completion.
