On the second day of the HKUST–FWE Conference on AI, Technology, and Education, Tony Gao, Founder and President of EasyTransfer and Board Member of Forum for World Education (FWE), delivered the closing remarks, sharing perspectives on how technology can advance education, improve student experiences, and help build a more connected global education ecosystem.

Building on the discussions from the opening day, education leaders and experts from The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology - HKUST, Tsinghua University, Nanyang Technological University, Singapore, and The University of Waikato explored the evolving role of AI in teaching, learning, assessment, and educational innovation. The conference concluded with a keynote address by Serguei Netessine, Senior Vice Dean for Innovation and Global Initiatives at The Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania, on the implications of AI for the future of education. In the closing session, Cheng Davis, President of FWE, reflected on the key insights from the two-day conference and the opportunities ahead for educators, institutions, and students as AI continues to transform education worldwide.

EasyTransfer Senior Advisor David Stringer-Lamarre was invited to speak at the Cambridge China Business Forum 2026 at Cambridge Judge Business School, joining business and education leaders from the UK and China to explore collaboration, innovation, and global opportunities.

The forum opened with welcome remarks from Gishan Dissanaike, Dean of Cambridge Judge Business School, alongside insights from John McLean OBE, Chair of the China UK Business Development Centre, on strengthening UK–China trade and bilateral relations. Sai Gu, Deputy Pro-Vice-Chancellor at University of Warwick, also shared perspectives on advancing UK–China education exchange and collaboration. The event also featured senior representatives from leading Chinese global enterprises including BYD, Xiaomi, Chery International, and JD.com 京东, discussing international expansion, cross-border partnerships, and technology development.

During the forum, David engaged with UK higher education leaders on strengthening student mobility and international exchange opportunities. EasyTransfer Founder and President Tony Gao and Partner Guohao Sun attended the HKUST–FWE Conference on AI, Technology, and Education at The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology - HKUST. The two-day conference, hosted by Forum for World Education (FWE) and HKUST, featured keynote speeches, panel discussions, and interactive sessions that brought together academic, industry, and policy perspectives on the future of education.

The first day of the conference opened with welcome remarks from HKUST Council Vice-Chair, Ms. Edith Shih and HKUST Provost, Prof. Yike Guo, setting the tone for forward-looking discussions on education innovation and global collaboration. HKSAR Government Secretary for Education, Dr. Choi Yuk-Lin also shared perspectives from policymakers on the current use of AI in education, including its opportunities, limitations, and challenges for all stakeholders.

The event featured a wide range of insightful panels and discussions. University of Pennsylvania University Trustee Chair Professor Emerita, Rebecca Maynard and The University of Waikato Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Alister Jones, discussed teacher preparation and upskilling in the AI era, emphasizing educators’ evolving roles and the balance between AI and human-centered education. Education professionals from The University of Hong Kong, The Chinese University of Hong Kong 香港中文大學 - CUHK, The Education University of Hong Kong, and The University of Queensland also contributed valuable perspectives on AI literacy, learning innovation, and the future of teaching and learning.

As AI reshapes industries and society, closer integration between technology and education is increasingly essential. Our Director of UK Operations, Daniel Akiva, recently attended the GuildHE Council Meeting at Regent's University London, focused on the theme ‘Ensuring strong governance during significant change’. The event brought together institutional leaders and governors to discuss how the higher education sector can strengthen governance and resilience amid ongoing transformation.

GuildHE's Chair and Harper Adams University's Vice-Chancellor, Professor Ken Sloan, delivered the opening remarks, setting the tone for the discussion. The session featured insights on the evolving future of the higher education landscape, including the Office for Students (OfS)’s direction toward outcome-based regulation and more sophisticated risk assessment frameworks, Committee of University Chairs (CUC) CEO, James Dunphy’s updates on the redevelopment of the Governance Code, driven by its most extensive sector-wide engagement to date, and a panel of Chairs and Vice-Chairs from St. Mary's University, Twickenham, Harper Adams University, and Northern College of Acupuncture, who reflected on effective governance in times of uncertainty, highlighting the importance of comprehensive onboarding, diverse skills, and vertical integration.

💡 AI readiness is becoming a core employability advantage across business, health, engineering, and social sciences.

📈 Non-technical roles such as marketing and HR increasingly demand AI fluency, creating new career pathways.

🏫 Higher education is moving slower than the jobs market: over 50% of employers report difficulty finding AI-ready graduates, while 78% of universities believe they are meeting demand.
