1. Gratitude 🙏

The quality of being thankful; readiness to show appreciation for and to return kindness.

"We are all gifted. When you come from certain circumstances, it’s hard not to appreciate what you have.

Gratitude and perspective work hand in hand. Once you have perspective, you don’t look upward at the people doing “better” than you…you don’t dwell, you don’t complain, and you don’t waste more time thinking about the time you’ve already wasted. You gain a greater appreciation for the failures and mistakes because of the lessons you learned, and you move on to better ex*****on.

Whatever is bothering you right now, take a breath, be grateful for what is going well, and realize what you can and can’t control. If you can’t control something, let it go and focus on what you can control, which is how much and how often you deploy gratitude in your life.

Gratitude is a lighter, more productive way to focus your energy and attention."

How do you show your gratitude every day? (by saying it out loud, writing it in your journal, acts of it, being silent about it...)

Let's talk about it and share more!

When people tell you to sell out, please do the opposite...(only in companies with good fundamentals and healthy balance sheets)

The volatility will still be seen throughout this year. A good strategy is to buy over time on a regular basis..Is this known as Dollar Cost Averaging? Comment if it is!

Now, you can generate extra free cash flow every month... Sounds ok?

*Signs of recession..?*

1.Hyper inflation caused by over printing of money from 2020 to 2021
2.Russia-Ukraine Crisis, energy prices rocking the sky! Nuclear attack being threatened.
3.China zero-Covid-19 policy causing slow down in their economy, possibly spilling to global economy
4.Federal Reserve raising interest rate too fast causing backfire.
5.More layoffs seen in American businesses.

*Impact to us..*
1.High inflation shrinks the purchasing power of our funds.
2.Slow down in major economy in USA, EU, China can spill to other parts of thr world
3.Increased in interest rates makes borrowing more expensive for companies, mortgage rates will increase proportionately higher.

*What to do?*
1.Maintain sufficient emergency funds
2.Cash out of over-leaveraged property or re-finance property loan into fixed rate
3.Watch or hold our spending on luxury items
4.Stay invested using Dollar Cost Averaging (DCA) strategy, generating cash and prepare for market rebound
5.Do not panic. Stay focus investing in companies with good fundamentals and healthy balance sheets.
6.Continue to monitor inflation rate, raise interest rates, China zero-Covid-19 policy, R-U development.

Fed Reserve has 2 main goals.
1.Maximize employment
2.Keep prices stable

When there is employment, people have money to spend. With the increase in demand while supply remain the same, businesses raise prices (inflation). The opposite is true when employment is too low. When people have less money to spend, demand goes down. While supply still remains, businesses will lower price (deflation) to entice people to spend.

If people spend less over a period of time, this will cause businesses to make less profits moving forward. Investors will start selling the stocks of companies and drive stock price down. This being one of the reason which affects the stock prices.

CPI - Consumer Price Index is used to calculate inflation. It looks at the average changes of prices over time.

The latest CPI for April is 0 3% increase, down from March of 1.2%! However, still at 40 year high.

How will high level of CPI index affect individuals, businesses and investors? Share your thoughts...

Singapore Market Update

Singapore Inflation Rate for March rose to 5.4%, up from 4.3% in February.

Inflation is causing more goods and services to cost more over a certain period.

Historically, Singapore Inflation Rate is averaging 2%.

Too high an inflation rate will dilute consumer's purchasing power and erode corporate margins. It creates uncertainties and instabilities in the economy.

When prices do go up, when was the last time we see those same prices come back down again?? 🤔

Singapore is a small economy. It imports most of its needs.

Geopolitics tensions is putting pressure on Oil, Gas, Commodity prices and many more.

Disruptions to world's supply chains due to Covid-19 involved many industries industries are affecting costs of labor, food to semi-con chips.
China lock downs(6th week in Shanghai) and some other cities causing for example Apple to report that they expect to lose at least $8Bn on revenue for this quarter.
So which direction do you expect electronics goods to go? 😳
MAS has said it expects the factors driving up global and regional inflation to "remain in play for a period".

How has inflation affected your lifestyle and plans?
What are doing about it?
