Investment in capital market products involves risk. Collective investment schemes are investment products and some may involve derivatives. Past performance is not necessarily indicative of future performance. In a worst-case scenario, the value of the investment may be worth substantially less than the original amount you have invested (and in an extreme case could be worth nothing). How should investors think about volatility? What does it take to build resilience when markets shift from calm to periods of turbulence?

In this episode of HSBC’s Think Wealth Series, Lavanya Chari, our Global Head of Wealth and Premier Solutions, spoke with Professor Myron Scholes, co-creator of the Nobel Prize-winning Black-Scholes framework for pricing risk in options markets. Now Chief Investment Strategist at Janus Henderson Investors, Professor Scholes joined the conversation in San Francisco.

Together, they explore how investors should interpret risk signals, the importance of diversification and scenario planning, and why understanding volatility remains central to long-term investing.

Smashing Barriers, Connecting Worlds 🏸

On 24 May 2026, we welcomed more than 30 of our HSBC Chinese clients with some joined by their families—to an exclusive HSBC Badminton Clinic at Wyse. This event was an extension of HSBC’s partnership with the Badminton World Federation (BWF), bringing the spirit of world-class badminton into a premium client experience here in Singapore.

Badminton has a strong affinity with the Chinese community, and our objective was simple: bring key clients together beyond the usual business setting and create a natural space for introductions and connections across borders. The result was an energetic Sunday morning that blended sport, coaching, and meaningful conversations.

The badminton clinic was led by Zheng Yu (a world-class doubles player with five BWF World Tour titles) and supported by our dedicated coaching team, the session combined high-energy drills with practical, personalised tips—helping everyone sharpen footwork, positioning, and shot ex*****on.

The morning ended with a photo opportunity and networking over light refreshments, creating a clear HSBC brand moment centred on what we stand for: seamless connectivity—on court and across borders.

As a leading international wealth hub, HSBC is committed to helping our global clients feel right at home, including through:

· One platform, one servicing team

· HSBC Singapore App in Simplified Chinese with access to wealth insights on mobile

· Stock Loyalty Pricing Programme with brokerage fees from as low as $0.08*

· Cross-border lifestyle services, including our Home & Away discount programme

It was a pleasure to have CEO HSBC Singapore Wong Kee Joo, Head of IWPB Singapore Ashmita Acharya, and Head of Distribution Ying Wang join our community. Thank you for letting us be part of your journey—both on and off the court.
