Even though Lih Ting is just 23, she was already thinking ahead, wanting to support her parents and herself.

However, with student loans, she realised the typical 9-5 job won't be able to help her achieve her goals.

Hence, she wanted a Career where her income could have exponential growth, rather than the standard increment.

After joining IAM as a student advisor, she's been able to pay off her Diploma student loans!

We've always been taught that in order to achieve success in our career, we just need to work hard.

However, in the current age, is that true?

That would apply to 40-50 years ago as we had to rely on manual labor and putting in as much effort as we could.

But with the evolution of the internet, things have changed drastically!

We can now learn many things online, meet new people and even have meetings at the comfort of our own home!

There's many ways now to achieve our own personal and career goals, we just need to explore it.

Is working hard still the best way to achieve what we want?

That used to work in the past as Singapore was still developing and there was no internet.

Hence, we had to rely on our time and manual effort in order to get further in life.

However, with the evolution of the Internet, social media and many other instruments, we're able to shortcut our path and get to where we want quicker.

Is being employed really safe?

When the circuit breaker first started, many lost their jobs but yet those who are self employed actually thrived.

That's because due to the unstable economy, more were looking to invest and hence, resulted in better business.

There's nothing wrong with being employed, however understand doing so will mean there'll be a cap to our income.

Many think it isn't. Why allow someone else to handle it when you can do it yourself?

Yes, it might seem good in theory. But when other priorities come into play such as relationships, career and family, it might not play out the way we want.

Are mentors really necessary in growing our career? Why can't we just rely on ourselves and on our own hard work?

Yes we can, but the journey would probably be a lot longer and tougher.. Wouldn't you want someone who'd be able to guide and show you the ropes?

Being able to learn from someone's mistakes and lessons can be an extremely effective way to shortening where you want to be!
