Should property always be divided equally among children?

Many parents believe equal distribution is the fairest option. But in reality, every child’s situation may be different. Some may have contributed more, some may have received financial help earlier, and some may have taken on caregiving responsibilities.

That is why proper estate planning is important. It helps ensure your wishes are clear and reduces the risk of future family disputes.

🏡 Is your property safe from being considered a matrimonial asset?
Many people assume that if they bought a property before marriage, it remains fully theirs.
But here’s the truth 👇
If the property is used as a family home or your spouse contributes to it in any way, it may be considered a matrimonial asset.
⚠️ This could have major implications in the future.
Don’t leave it to assumptions — understand how your assets are treated.

💔 Did you know your inheritance may not always stay yours in a divorce?
Many people assume inheritance is automatically protected—but that’s not always the case. Factors like commingling assets or using the inheritance for shared expenses can change everything.

⚖️ Understanding how this works can help you protect what matters most.
Watch this quick video to learn when inheritance can become divisible—and what you can do about it.

👉 Don’t wait until it’s too late. Plan smart.

Many people focus on building wealth, but overlook one crucial detail…
👉 Who will take care of your loved ones if you’re not around?
Ignoring the role of a guardian is one of the most common (and costly) estate planning mistakes.

A will doesn’t just distribute assets — it protects the people you care about most.
💡 Don’t leave it to chance. Plan ahead, choose wisely, and give your family peace of mind.

When a couple passes away in a common disaster, what happens to their assets?
Many assume everything will “automatically work out” — but without proper planning, it can lead to delays, disputes, and unintended outcomes.

💡 Important questions to consider:
• Who inherits your assets if both partners are gone?
• Are your beneficiaries clearly named?
• Do you have a backup plan in place?

Planning ahead isn’t just about wealth — it’s about protecting your loved ones from unnecessary stress.

Many parents don’t realise this.
If a child inherits money or receives insurance proceeds while still a minor, the funds may be placed under the Public Trustee’s Office.
This means the money is not freely accessible.
Withdrawals before the child turns 21 are generally only considered upon application — and approval is subject to the Public Trustee’s discretion.
Even for legitimate expenses, there is a process involved.

This is why proper estate planning matters. Without the right arrangements, funds meant to support a child may become temporarily inaccessible when they need it most.
Planning ahead ensures money reaches your loved ones at the right time and in the right way.
If you have young children, this is something worth understanding.

Equality sounds good… but is it always fair?

Sometimes giving everyone the same thing doesn’t create the same opportunity. Real fairness means understanding different needs, challenges, and starting points.

Watch this short video and tell me what you think:
Is equal treatment enough — or should we aim for equity?

Many people don’t realise this…

If you don’t make a nomination for your CPF savings, your loved ones may face delays, confusion, and unnecessary stress during an already emotional time.

Your CPF savings won’t be distributed automatically based on your wishes unless you make a nomination with the Central Provident Fund.

It only takes a few minutes to do, but it can save your family months of complications.

Don’t leave it to chance.

Have you done your CPF nomination yet?

Most people don’t realize this…
Your CPF savings do NOT follow your Will.

That means even if you’ve carefully planned your estate, your CPF money is distributed according to your CPF nomination — not your Will.

If you haven’t made a nomination, it will be distributed under intestacy laws instead.

CPF is governed separately by the Central Provident Fund Board — and it does NOT automatically align with your estate plan.

Have you checked your CPF nomination recently?
